WHISKEYSWAMP
If I have time tonight, I'm heading over to check out a 1998 Honda Civic... I can't really afford to buy a rice burner right now but I also can't afford not to..lol I'll just let my truck sit in the garage.
ruttinbuc
It is starting to effect my very way of life. Not just gas but all the other stuff that the high price is bringing down with it. I test drove a 2001 VW Golf the other day. I'll stick with my truck for now.
Guest Andrea
Is it possible to trade in your truck for a small car without an exchange of cash? I can't imagine a dealer would take my truck since no one is wanting to buy trucks now. Mine is a 2001 Ford F-150 Lariat.
Michiganbowhunter_SQ2
$3.99 here I don't drive much, mostly to school and back, I have a '96 grand am, have had it for 11 years needs some work but I think I can make it last a bit longer, hopefully
Dawg
$3.68 here. Expect it to go higher. I tried the car thing last year. Traded my dodge truck for a pontiac grand am. That lasted bout a year and then I went and traded the grand am on a 03 ford truck. Getting the same gas mileage out of the truck as I was the grand am. Gotta have a truck, deer don't fit very well in a car.
birdhunter39
i put away the ford p.u. with a 460 engine away for the summer and bought a dodge dakota with a v6 . right now gas is $ 3.95 a gallon for reg . _ $ 4.17 for premium

I'mthe idiot who bought another pickup truck with a v8....I'm starting to feel it. Ummm yeah, we went and bought a new more comfortable for the family suv back in February, and no it is not downsized. With it getting around 12 mpg, glad my truck will not be seeing much use over the summer.
aksheephuntress
...Yes, at almost $4.00/gallon, the kids and I just don't drive anywhere very much...besides the occasional Anchorage trip...which is where we fill up the tank, anyway..(a lot cheaper,up there..) Bowtech_archer07
No downsize here either. Gas is $3.79 heading for $4 really quickly.
preacherman
It is around $3.70 at most places here in town; but there is still one little store that has it priced at $3.49. As far as downsizing, we did about 2 years ago. We traded a Chevy Trailblazer for a Nissan Altima. And got rid of my Ford F-150 and got a Chevy. We went from 18 mpg to over 30 mpg with the Altima. Went from 15 mpg to almost 20 mpg from the F-150 to the Chevy truck.
Jeramie
Out of curiosity....how many of you have already downsized your vehicles???????? Currently in the process. My car gets about 25mpg. Im looking at sub compact. On that note, if anyone wants a truck they are CHEAP in Oklahoma.
bowin_in_illinois
No...haven't downsized. ...and I won't. I don't know what I would do without my truck. I have made some extra efforts to improve my MPG though. *new tires (filled with nitrogen) *alignment *complete tune up *Keep my speed down I was getting 14 mpg...now I get 16-17, so...it helps. fly
3.89 (this week). Goes up a dime every week. I'm driving my F-150 4X4 for now. When I return from Idaho I'll be looking into something cheap (2 grand) that gets 30+mpg.
Tominator
$3.66 this morning. $75 total i think.
sureshot
I wish our gas was 375 a gallon, its over 1.30 a liter, times that by 3.89 liters or so in a gallon and you have 5.00 a gallon here, don't whine to much or it will get this high lol! what gets me is we ahve all the gas and oil in our backyard, I say forget what the guys overseas need supply us first. OJR
I traded my 3/4 ton Chevy for a Colorado over a year ago. The last time I checked the mileage, I got over 21mpg! I'll take it!
Dubie
I've been downsized for a few years now. Its amazing what kind of terrain a 2-door cavalier will go through, and exactly how much game animal you can fit in it with the back seat down.... With gas being, as mentioned above, close to $5.00, And the fact that I have to drive a minimum of 40 miles per day, I simply can't have a truck to drive around daily. bfletch7441
I parked my truck at the house and bought a Ford Taurus. 22 mpg beats 14 mpg every day of the week. Ben
lil hunter
Gas is 3.72 here. My dad told me it's spose to go up another 10 cents or so tonight. It's been goin up about a dime every week. Last time I filled up my truck it cost me $92. I didn't necessarily "Downsize" but I did go out and buy a streetbike. I'm not sure exactly what mpg it's getting yet, but it should be at least twice as good as my truck, maybe more. As soon as it quits rainin I'll start ridin it daily. Shaun_300
$1.20 to $1.23/liter here! ($4.65/gal) My last fill up with the truck was at $1.17 a liter and it took $105 from 1/8 of a tank! It does get pretty good mileage for a Silverado though. It's got the 4.3L V6 with the manual transmission. It'll get about 20mpg on the highway at 80-85mph or so. If I brought it down to 65 I'm sure it'd get 23mpg. Gotta start using the cruise more often. It'll have to get quite a bit higher for me to downsize. I need my truck since I have my 4-wheeler. If it gets really high I'll buy a Cobalt SS Supercharged and get a trailer for the 4-wheeler.
