bowtech
I am looking to get a new bow .... i got rid of my old bow and am looking to get a new bow to shoot some 3-d competions and hunt with ... wondering what every one thougth of the 82nd airborn .. or possibly the mathews switchback xt .. i have shot both and really like them both ... which one would you pick and why ...i feel that the mathews is a little smoother to draw and very smooth to shoot ... but i like the speed of the 82nd... any info would be appreciated
Guest Finn
I have an XT and absolutely love it. This is the first time I've owned a bow that I never had a thought of buying another one.

AdvantageTimberLou
I took my new Mathews Switchback XT out for its first 3D shoot today, shot a 249 with it. I was shooting Easton Fatboys out of it and didn't have a ton of practice with this combination and still seem to shoot good on a rather windy day here in Michigan! At the 73 yard novelty shoot at balloons I was off about 3 inches to the right! I am sold on this bow! Great all around bow that is for sure! Hoytguy
I have a buddy that is trying to decide on a new bow. He is graduating from his Reflex Buckskin. Looking at the BowTech line and the Hoyt line-up. So this thread sounds all to familiar with what I was dealing with on Saturday. Good luck with the choice. AdvantageTimberLou
That is what I did, I have a Reflex Buckskin as well and its a great shooter and great little bow but its now my back-up bow as the Switchback XT is just an awesome shooter!! Only regret is not trying a Mathews sooner!
arrow32
Well I'm hunting with a 38 ultra right now but getting ready to get me a new on here sometime. Have a Seven37 I love to shoot comp with but since its red and black doesn't do any good to hunt with it. Hoyt tho makes some sweet bows so doesn't everyone else out there. Would say if your looking for just a comp bow I'm selling my seven37.

Guest ohbowhntr
Not big on the guardian .. they do shoot nice but i dont like how they draw .. feels like you hit a brick wall!.. pretty sure i am gonna get the airborne Thanks for all the replys! Try out the 101st while your at it, I've heard a LOT of guys who liked the 101st better than the 82nd because it has a little more valley, and a little more forgiving brace. It still has pretty much the same draw cycle just shortens a touch earlier. But some of the more HONEST guys I've talked to that are "Bowtech Guys," have admitted that the 82nd is a more difficult bow to shoot, and that they had to preferred something with a little more forgiveness. Also MOST guys who I know that shoot or shot an 82nd thought it seemed more harsh on the draw cycle and MANY of them had to drop weight from what they'd usually shot. I think IF I were going to go for one vs. the other, it would be the 101st with SMOOTH mod's undoubtedly, but I like the Allegiance better than either Airborne if I were going Bowtech. That being said, I don't think you can do much better than a Hoyt Ultra 38 or Seven37, and considering the testing they do on their designs, I think there's a reason you rarely hear of anyone having a problem with their Hoyt bows. Not the fastest, but probably the most durable. Like the others said, I think a Matthews is SMOOTH, but my personal feel leans toward a Hoyt, but I will agree, Hoyt's in general AREN'T as smooth as the Matthews line in general. Just my $.02, and they probably aren't worth that.....
