Hello out there, I am asking for some opinions about hunting blinds. I would love to have a Double Bull, I just can not afford on. Can some ideas on a blind that would equal to a double Bull in size and durability an for much less cost.

While they are nice, I myself, just couldn't justify the cost of a DD blind. I bought the Ameristep Intimidator last year. I used it a few times now. It worked good for me. Bad thing about deer hunting in blinds is. You need to get them out in the wild for a few weeks to get the deer used to them. My father bought one thinking that it would help with his Xbow. But now he just leaves it at home. But I do believe using a rifle will be just fine, since most rifle shots are at longer distances.

I had an Ameristep and the thing exploded on me last fall. Most of the white metal pieces in it broke, so I made a few ground blinds and they paid off. Have a few high branches and several low ones to hide your movement. Just give yourself a few shooting lanes, hunt the wind, and you should be all set.

I had an Ameristep Brickhouse for a couple years and this past year it's pretty much turned to junk. The fabric started to tear in several different places, the "hubs" that hold the sides out began to break and bears like to pull them from the ground and throw them around. Plus, my brother put a bullet right through the blind.:rolleyes:

I've looked at Ameristep's "Intimidator" blind and it is the closest thing you'll find to a Double Bull. I don't know if I would buy a Brickhouse again. But, I wouldn't spend $400 for a Double Bull either. The Intimidator is a really nice blind, but still over $200. If you can find a Brickhouse from $100 or so, that will probably be your best bet.

Don't think your gonna find anything the "quality/durability of a DB at a much lesser cost". I have two, the T2 and the T5, and did own an Ameristep. No comparison. Buy what you can afford, and move up in quality as your situation permits.

We currently own and use a Cabela's Lightning Set 4-Season Hunting Blind. It gets the job done for what I use it for and I haven't ran into any real problems. It's easy to setup, not too heavy or bulky, and pretty sturdy. The only draw back I found was they used velcro to close the windows and if I want to keep my windows all shut and open different windows in the blind while out hunting that the velcro noise is extremely loud. I haven't had it spook an animal yet, but it sure echos through the woods.

My next blind is probably going to be the Cabela's Full Draw 5X Blind because it uses quiet elastic closures for the windows instead of velcro and appears to have a better camo technology (Blur 3D) on it that might help me blend the blind in easier in my hunting area without me having to brush it up so much as I do my current blind. If I was to increase my price range some from the under $200 range that I'm currently at to an under $300 range then I'd probably be looking at an Ameristep Signature Series Dominator Ground Blind with the magnetic silent closures on the windows and scent sealing ground skirt and maybe add an Edge ReLeaf Cover System to it if needed to it.

For years DB had the best blind out there, but everyone else is slowly catching up. You can now get a very comparable blind for half the price. As others have said, check out the Ameristep blinds. I own a DB and if it ever craps out on me I will look for a cheaper blind that has the same features. Another good one that I've hunted out of is an Eastman ASAT Quickie. Used one out in Kansas for turkey hunting. Wind was blowing mach 5 out there. Had it staked down and it worked great.

Double Bull all the way guys. I have always said if you have a good product and good service -- price them becomes the secondary consideration. I have a bunch of them and will be getting probably a half dozen more of them this year. I would like to see them a bit cheaper but will still buy them until someone makes a better one. Quality and durability have to come into play when considering bang for the buck.
