Turkeygirl
So I have a 4 day weekend starting Friday...beautiful weather also. My plans are to hunt the state land, and the land the guy from camp has. He said the gobblers he has been seeing, he was seeing like just before noon. So I don't know if I should go there in the morning and just hunt straight through...or go to the state land first thing then late morning go over there? What do you guys think? Either way, I'll enjoy my 4 days off;)
WHISKEYSWAMP
i'd go to the camp and hunt straight through... if nothing else you can find out where they are roosting and figure out their pattern for the next days hunt... another advantage is it sounds no other hunters have been pressuring these birds. good luck! Leo
Do what you enjoy. I agree with the other posters I'd hunt straight thru. In my experience whenever someone tells you gobblers are showing up regularly in a certain area that's invaluable advice. Sometimes these birds visit a regularly utilized area several times a day. You may not have to sit till noon. But if you decide to do it. Cozy in and be determined to stay put until almost an hour after the supposed appearance time. Good luck. Turkeygirl
Yeah...he doesn't really hunt turkeys, doesn't have the time...and the other land surrounding him, he said the guy brings his kids out maybe once or twice, but basically not pressured. And with a field up behind his house, I will guess the birds will be in that at some point. I'll get in in the morning and see what happens.
