wondering what types of stands you have in your array of hunting stands, and why you think the way you do about them.

i have one 22' skyscraper, gets me pretty high and is very comfortable,

1 riflemaster by big game, new but is 16' tall looks like it will be a good bow stand.

1 equlizer climbing stand, alsome very comfortable and never is unlevel, my go to stand when i need to move around.

I've got a ladder stand I leave out year round but it's been out for couple of seasons and I forgot what brand it is. I mostly use my Gorilla Kong hang on stand with a mini-ladder. It's pretty solid and fairly comfortable. It was my first season with a hang on and I'm 54 but I was very comfortable with it as far as safety was concerned. (Also use HSS vest and Lifeline).

Got a couple climbers, the summit is very comfortable and gets a lot of use during the archery season. Have not used the new gorilla climber I bought at the end of last season yet. Have a couple homemade steel 12 ft ladder stands, they are great inside the woods on large trees. Have a couple ladder stand type blinds, one is very heavy(a permanent stand). Have one hang on stand too, mostly use it for archery. Have a box blind(6X6) over a plot primarily for the wife and kids to hunt from.

I have a Strong Built climber,a Gorilla climber, and a Summit climber.I also have a Hunters View lock-on and a API lock-on and two 20' climbing sticks. The Strong Built is a little older and is heavy,so I usually leave it on the tree all season. I bought the Gorilla on clearance after last season so I haven't had a chance to use it yet. My Summit is very comfortable, and I mostly use it for gun season when I try to sit a long time.I mainly use my lock-ons for bowhunting.

Over the years I have purchased about 2 dozen Comfort Zone hang-on stands from Dicks Sporting Goods. I like them for a few reasons:

price - $24-$40 (depending on sale) *I can buy for multiple stand sites.

comfort: the seat comfort has gotten much better.

size: the are a smaller stand, but I like not sticking out.

durability: I don't beat my stands up, but these things have lasted.

I own a few other stands, but up to now, I have based my purchases on price and quality so I can afford to get various stand sites set up.

I have 2 ladder stands, also made by Comfort Zone, that I leave all year for scouting and hunting.

Hey Robert, good to hear from you.

I've got two climbers. An old aluminum Warren & Sweat very light, a little awkward to put up and not very comfy, and a Summit Viper, a little bigger and heavier, but very comfy. Then I have a hang on with 18 feet of climbing stick and then a 18' ladder stand that I built.

Boy oh boy...this is a fess up time topic.

Here's my current stand inventory:

5 Ol' Man Vision climbers

12 stick ladders of different kinds for most of my hang on stands (I use screw in steps on the others)

4 Ol' Man Tara II hang ons (3 with buddy bars)

1 Ol' Man Tara hang on

4 ladder stands from various companies

3 Ol' Man Air Elite hang ons

3 New Millennium hang ons

3 New Millennium 20' ladder stands

3 Trailhawk hang ons (I use a Summit trophy chair with them)

2 old Summit hang ons

1 Hunter's View hang on

That doesn't count the 4 Ol' Man Vision climbers I gave to my son about 4 years ago.

Yep...a little out of control here.

My favorite stands are the New Millennium stands. Right now I still prefer hang on stands but the older I get, the more I'm learning to appreciate a good ladder stand. ;) By far the New Millennium stands are the most comfortable stands I've ever used. The more comfortable I am in a tree, the longer I'm apt to stay there.

I have a few cheap ladder stands...put a nice pad on them and can sit there for a good amount of time.

Gorilla Hang-ons....pretty comfy...not the best.

Some cheap climber..by far my most comfy stand. Arm rests kind of get in the way sometimes bowhunting because I shoot a recurve.

  • 2 weeks later...

I have several diffrent stands from hang-ons to ladder stands I enjoy the two person 12ft ladder stands the most they give you plenty of room to move store stuff and keep me in the stand longer as you can move to get comfortable.....I also use some amerstep stands and the are nice..they are hang-ons with climbing sticks......I think it is what ever you are comfortable with and you can get to fit in the tree.
