Squirrelhunter91
Hey everyone, yesterday afternoon, one of my best friends wiped out on another friends atv. Granted he was driving on the road and everything without a helmet, but he's pretty banged up. They had to airlift him across the river to Westchester Medical Center. And when they airlift you, you don't only have roadrash or a few cuts and bruises. Here's the article in our local paper: http://www.lohud.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=2008805220408 We have to zip over to Westchester Medical Center today to go visit him. His name is Alex and his sister has been keeping in touch with me through the night via text message. The latest update is that he broke his back and has surgery today to prevent paralysis. So please, if you get a chance, say a prayer for Alex.

Tominator
Sorry to hear this Joe. Sadly, maybe a lesson for you to think a little past tomorrow. Sorry, I deal with this all the time with young adults who think they are impervious to everything. Prayers on the way.

The_Kat
That really sux man, I hate to hear it. I don't joke around on 4-wheelers ever since Jenn's aunt got killed when she was 24 years old. She was wearing a helmet and being careful, she simply didn't see a ravine and went off in it. The four wheeler crushed her and she died of internal bleeding. It will make ya think twice the next time ya climb on one for sure. I pray your buddy gets well man. I'm sure he'll pull through!

Squirrelhunter91
Thank you for the prayers everyone. Alex was in surgery from 7AM to about 4:00PM today. He is gonna be paralyzed from his waist down the rest of his life. The surgery was to reconstruct his spine so he can sit upright in a wheelchair. We are all really upset and lost for words. I've known the kid since first grade and we're gonna be seniors in september. I just can't believe the way things happen and how something can change in an instant. Life is too short. Alex has had nothing but bad luck his whole life and this just tops it. The only other thing that could happen to him is for him to die. The only thing we can really do is be happy that he's alive. The hospital is saying that he's gonna be there for a few weeks then off to rehab at most likely a local hospital. We never got to see him because he was in surgery the whole time we were there but we're going back tomorrow morning to see him for sure. Squirrelhunter91
Here's an update... we saw Alex on Friday. He was in a lot of pain and really cold. He had 10 blankets on him and was still shivering away. On Saturday they pulled him out of ICU and put him in a regular room. So that pretty much means he's stable, right? Still a slim chance of him ever walking again. I unfortunately can't go see him til Thursday (my day off) without taking off time from work and my boss is already mad at me for taking off Friday to go see him. Some boss huh? Thanks for your prayers everyone and please keep praying. Alex needs it.
