Gator
Okay, someone explain to me this, and I am talking mainly for turkey hunting. What difference in the manufacturer does an extended tube make if it is the same constriction, and ported? If 5 tubes have the same constriction, will they not pattern close to the same? wtnhunt
Re: choke tubes Look forward to seeing responses from AJ and some of the others on this. You would think if the constriction is the same and the porting is the same, that the only other factor might be the actual tube length. But I really honestly dont know. AJ
Re: choke tubes Finding the proper choke for a particular gun is part science and partially art. No, the different chokes you see on the market that have the same constriction are not the same. Each will have a different ratio of taper and parallel sections to get the optimum pattern. If there is too much of a parallel section, the pattern will be more open. If there is not enough it can cause patchiness. Look at the top choke makers and you will see they all have slightly different methods to achieve their results.

AJ
Re: choke tubes Welcome to the group. [ QUOTE ] I'm used to shooting out to 70 yards and am curious what chokes are the best for the gun? [/ QUOTE ] A rifle. Shooting 70 yards is a bit too far for a 3" shotgun shell. I shoot custom loads in my 3.5" gun and the max I would shoot is 60 yards.
