cflhunter
How often should bow strings be replaced? Every other season? What are some good brands that you're using?

Sorry cant help ya on the brands. Hutchies might be able to help you with that.
LifeNRA
Every two years for me. I don't shoot every day, or shoot 3D. They say if you do this you should change yearly. But keeping the string properly conditioned is a MUST! If the string feels dry, its time to wax! As far as string makers, there is a bunch. I use H&M Bowstrings. He is from PA, and his prices are great! I paid $43 for a set of the 452x non-stretch material. I would definitely check Mikes site out. http://www.hmbowstrings.com/
M00N
I change my strings about every 2 years, unless the string shows wear and needs changed before then. I constantly check the string for frays and the high stress areas (around the cams, where the cable goes through the cable slide, where my arrow nocks, etc.) for abnormal wear. I also wax my string whenever it shows signs that it needs it. Additionally, I don't shoot 3D with my bow. I just practice often with my bow (about 12-24 shots each practice session) and hunt with it, so my bow doesn't get heavy use at all to wear the strings down as quickly as a 3D bow would. As far as brand name recommendations. I honestly am not that impressed lately with alot of the "name-brand" strings on the market. I feel they have gone down in quality over the years, but that's just my personal experience and opinion. I had a lot of trouble with my last set of "name-brand" strings and the whole issue with string stretching or peep rotation and know a few hunters in our hunting group that had similar issues with a few "name-brand" strings. After my bad experiences I pretty much stopped using "name-brand" strings and am strictly using custom strings from now on. If possible I highly recommend getting some good quality customs strings made instead. I recommend either looking up some of the custom string makers online or find a local with a good reputation and good quality strings to get your strings through. I currently have my custom strings made by a local here named Mike Myers from Kinsey's Outdoors. He does some top notch work and sells some quality products. I don't have any complaints and neither does two of my hunting partners that have used Mike's strings far longer than I have.
