cflhunter
Which do you prefer, expandable or fixed blade broadheads?
Tominator
Used the Rage 2 blade last year and was pretty happy with the performance.
craig mack
I picked fixed blade but I will be shooting Rage 2 blades this year.
Guest ohbowhntr
I like both, but with that being said, I shoot Expandables more often then FBH's when hunting. But if you tune your bow to shoot FBH's with FP's, you'll be getting your rig in tip top shooting shape. Yesterday, I was shooting, and everything was flying nicely out of the bow, until I grabbed some FBH's, and I realized my rest was just a touch high, causing some high hits w/ the FBH. Lowered the rest a little, and shot, still to high, repeat, BINGO, right next to each other. No my set-up just got completely worked around, but after some shooting today, I suspect that I'll have everything BETTER than it was when I started, and I WAS shooting Archer's Minute of Angle with FP's (roughly 1" grouping per 10yds distance). Guest NASafariguy
Definately expandables. AfterShock Archery Hypershocks due quite a bit of damage and I have always had quick reocveries. http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&VideoID=32644498

toddyboman
muzzy for me.....but I am very curious about the Rage after reading and see so many great reviews
RangerClay
I picked fixed blade because I just got stared bowhunting and all I have tried so far is fixed blades. I will be trying the Rage 2-blade this fall.
huntinguide
Both it depends on what im hunting i shoot rage 2 but for just about anything but for bigger or boney stuff like pigs i shoot muzzy
Shawn
always shot fixed, no need to fix what aint broken
arrow32
I've shot and like both. They both have there ups and downs IMO from which brands you are using and what not. But with that being said right now I'm on a fixed blade run.
BuckNrut
Been using FB all along - but after watching some vids where they used expabdables, I'm beginning to gain an interest in them. Only problem is $ is tight and my replacement blades are a lot cheaper than any new setup.
Guest ckcranch
Fixed Blades I shoot fixed blade broadheads, a Muzzy MX-3. I have never tried expandable blade broadheads, but why change when what you use works. My broadheads group with my field points and I don't have to worry about them opening, so why change. Also the mechanical broadheads are more expensive then the broadheads I shoot.
backwoods07
I shoot expandables (Rage 2), but you really can't go wrong with Muzzy's if you tune your bow right. I've seen them both in action and both do a great amount of damage. I always have a fear of catching a bit of my string with fixed blades when I'm nocking an arrow
Hoytguy
Nothing really to say here....just wanted to vote.......BUMP
Guest dlb
I've used both with success, but right now, I prefer expandables. I took my best bow buck ever with an expandable. He offered me an 18 yard quartering away shot, and he only went about 40 yards before he crashed. The key, as others have mentioned, is proper bow tuning no matter what you shoot. Squirrelhunter91
I've always shot fixed blade. Usually a 100gr 3-blade Muzzy, but this year I'll be shooting the G5 Strikers in 100gr.
Eddie234
I always shot instinctively and used Muzzy 3 blade 100 grains, a few years ago I bought a new bow and decided to go with sights and a release, WOW, what a difference. I went with expandables which seem to fly a little better for me.
Guest Finn
Have always used fixed, but switching to Rage 2 Blades this year.
Hoyt03
mechanicals will allow for you to get away with your bow not up to par on the tuning, fixed heads will not fly great out of bow that's not properly tuned. That being said up until this coming season I had always used spitfires b/c I was too lazy to mess with the bow to get it shooting fixed heads. Mech's wont penetrate as well with angled shots but usually leave a pretty good blood trail. I got the new bow shooting good and will be leaving the mechanicals behind and going with the slick tricks.
fly
All you fixed bladers need to expand your minds.
HarvDog
Expandable here. They seem to fly truer for me.
Born4it
I voted for fixed because that's what I use, but I'm thinking about switching to Tekans or Rage 2-blades this year. We'll have to see! Good luck, Ryan
Michiganbowhunter_SQ2
I really don't prefer one over the other. It just depends on what mood I am in. I'll be carrying the G5 Strikers and Tekans in my quiver this fall. I have been wanting to try the 2-blade rage heads also.
Switchback29A1
Wasp Jak-Hammer expandables
