I need a favor

Yup its me, too_pointer :) I'm trying to help a friend with a clip problem. I would call it a magazine, but I guess back then, it was a clip. Here is the info he gave me :

It's a 303 BR Cal. ( British to me.). He found this on the barrel.

Australia 1942, serial # 2990

303 BR Cal.

M.A.

Lithgrow

S.M.L.E.

He believes they made 2 different clips for it, so the year might help. I looked around some, but parts aren't my strong point, "if I have one " LOL.:D If any of you might think a

web site might help, lay it on me. I sure appreciate any help

or info !

Hey there

I have a 303 British that was made in 1941 for my great uncle when he fought in Italy in WWII. He gave it to my dad and then to me. The gun I have is British Army special issue sharpshooter rifle made by Lee-Enfield. I also have a regular issue rifle from Lee-Enfield that was made for regular troops durring th war. Mine were made in england for english and canadian troops.

Your gun is likely similar to mine and I can comment on the guns I have. They have a 7 and 15 round magazine, though only the 7 is legal in Canada now. They are fully exposed magazines, hanging out of the stock except for the top couple inches that are inside. The release for the magazine is infornt of the trigger guard behind the magazine. The only place I know you can still get parts or magazines for the gun is from people like me who have one that was handed down to them, or from collectors. If you are in eastern Canada at anytime take a look in some old pawn shops or old hardware stores.

You could also give a call to some gun stores or collectors in Austrailia. They have a long tradition of keeping parts for everything.

And no, you can't have any of my clips.
