Guest tdm69
I learned something about lime yesterday from a faithful reader of my site who happens to be a farmer. Our local ag service runs around $88 a ton. I've seen other discussions in the forums about it and I think the cheapest I seen was around $40 a ton. Well turns out you can buy the same lime straight from the quarry, so I called my local quarry and I can get it for $3 a ton. THAT'S RIGHT $3 A TON !!!! Now that really helps a joe smoe like me at getting into food plots.
toddyboman
My local co-op will deliver and spread for about $15 a ton.
Tominator
Could be the difference of pelletized vs. regular lime in the powder form. A lot of guys have problems with straight lime because it cakes up in the spreader whereas pelletized does not. Can't say for sure, our clay soil doesn't really need liming. sskybnd
our ag was also selling it for around that price also, and they would rent the preader for $50.00, but thats great if you can get a spreader where you need it, if not you have to settle buying baged lime, i just had to buy 50 bags at $4.65 a bag
Darron
I use the pelletized lime and can get it for $3 a 50lb bag. I just use a regular spreader. The powder form, from what I have been told, takes a special kind of spreader.
