buckee
Re: A Christian Hunter\'s Devotions and Studies Something else I would like to add if I may. Even if we follow all the rules, speak in tongues, are prophetic, know Gods word inside and out and have not Love...we have nothing. Everything we do in the flesh is temporal, Love is everlasting
iabow
Re: A Christian Hunter\'s Devotions and Studies Thank you Guys.I was just thinking that I'm here speaking with my brothers from all over the world. What an awesome time we live in. MATT24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations;and then shall the end come. Can you imagine the trumphets sounding and the sky splitting and there is Jesus in all the glory and majesty,in a twinkling of an eye we'll be gone. YellowHawk I understand what you are saying.I've been a hypocrite myself, only I have done all the things on the outside I'm "suppose"to do.Don't drink,go to church etc. but on the inside I was running from God.I had no joy in Him,because I was disobeying Him in me(I wanted to do what I wanted). I thought He wanted to take all my fun,and He was only looking to beat me over the head if I miss it.But I see that is just what I've learned from the world that I still agreed with.So I'm takeing back my heart for the Kingdom of God.So I live and love Him through and through, and be a vessel for Him to use. Phil 1:6 Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ I wanted to say that I'm also Holy Ghost filled and speak in tongues, isn't great to have your own personal pray lango.w/the Father.God bless each and every one of you! On another note I heard a very well known minister say his favorite shirt is w/two deer standing together one says to the other "Bad birth mark" as he looks at the scope marks on his side . Grant did you get my P.M. ,don't give up man,you have a purpose in this life.
jaret
Re: A Christian Hunter\'s Devotions and Studies Ok I guess I'll share my testimony. It's long I forewarn you lol... I wasn't raised in a Christian home or anything. I always believed in God but that was it. My mom's cousin would babysit me and my sister during the winter, spring, and summer breaks and would take us to school when there was school. Her husband and children all went to church and would read us the Bible during breakfast which would raise my curiousity but that was pretty much it. Well, I think in 1995 or so, my mom got fired from her job and found a new job and most of her co-workers were Christian women who were going to a nearby church. So they asked my mom if she'd like to go and so she did and she got saved and started going to this church. I looked at it as time interfering with playing outside or playing baseball or backyard football with some of the neighborhood kids. I'll be honest, at that age, I did not like it at all lol. When they'd have music on, I'd just stand there not clapping or singing or anything. I was just thinking, "let's get the pastor up on stage to preach so we can get this show over with!" I figured this would only be a phase my mother was going thru, but it wasn't we kept going! My mom got me and my sister to go into the youth group. It just seemed like a daycare with kids my age and people were just trying to control kids. So somehow I got my mom to get us out of the youth group and back into the main sanctuary. So thruout junior high school, my mom was just trying to get me to get involved with the church but for me at the time it just wasn't my thing. I loved sports, so that was like the thing that consumed my time, that and video games lol. But It was like around my freshmen year of high school. I was on the football team trying to be a 'somebody'. I wanted to be Mr. Popular, but thank the Lord I didn't do any of the things the rest of the guys on the football team were doing. But it was around Halloween and this church was having almost like a haunted house but it was supposed to be like walking thru Sheoul, the greek word for the opposite of heaven. But I was like 16 and I thought that if someone killed you or you died in a car crash, you automatically went to heaven. I know, thinking back on the way I thought of, I thought pretty dumb. But Paul says in the Bible that 'when he was a child, he thought as a child' lol. But what I realized at the end of this Christian haunted house was that anyone who is killed by someone or killed in a car wreck don't go to heaven unless they have accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior. If they haven't, they go to Sheoul. So at the end of the haunted house. They asked "if you were to die tonite, where would you go?" And they had three doors which you could go into 1) Heaven 2) Sheoul 3) A question mark for those who didn't know. Well me thinking I was so sure, went to the one that had Heaven written acrossed it. But once everyone in your group has choose their door, they had you go into a tent where the pastor would began talking and telling us about Jesus and why He came and died on the cross. Then he asked us again if we were sure about our paths we choose, and that if we weren't to say the sinner's prayer after him. So I said it, and after that I just felt like I was just alive a lot more. I don't exactly remember the date it happened but it was around October of 98 and I was 16. And I've been living for Him since!
Grant-KS
Re: A Christian Hunter\'s Devotions and Studies Ok, this is kinda weird, but......... Thurs. evening my mom, dad, bro. and I went to a community concerts concert (The woods tea company) and a girl that we go to school with came too, and sat with my bro. and I. Well, at the intermission, we were kinda bored, so we left, and went to Arby's and got a bite to eat, then went home. My bro. went to his friend's house to see him off on a trip, and hang out with him for the rest of the evening, and Louisa (the girl I go to school with) brought me home. On the way home we got to talking about girls, crushes, and girls' hearts, and how to take care of them and not hurt them. (I learned some good things) Then she asked if I liked anyone in particular, and after a few "roundabout" questions, I told her that I liked Shirley. (another girl I go to school with) She was sort of surprised that I actually told her, but......anyway, we were talking about Shirley a li'l bit, and then she said that she's a very sensitive girl, and that I should really be good to her, and be careful not to hurt her. So, me, being the VERY unexperienced kid at talking to girls, and NOT offending them (offending comes naturally to me) asked her how to go about doing this? I mean, how am I supposed to take good care of her? So she told me that she would loan me a really good book on the general subject and she thought that I'd really like it. So, on Friday she brought it to school and gave it to me. When I got home from school, I started reading it, and I didn't stop except for supper, then resumed my reading. The basic story is about a guy and a girl growing up, dating shallow guys/gals, focusing on all the wrong things, and overall living pretty dirty lives. (Eric thought EXACTLY the way that I've been thinking lately. EXACTLY!!!!) Anyway, he became a christian after his big sister gave him a book to read when he was in college, and he met this girl at their new church (he was 21, she was 16) and they were just friends, went to voice lessons together every week, etc. etc. He was thinking, no way this is going to turn into anything, and he was influencing her, and leading her toward God (She was taken up in herself, and dating and making out with guys that she hardly knew, and doing all sorts of bad things) So, to make a long story short, God brought them together after they had both commited their lives to God and were living that way, and they got married in the end. All true story, both of them wrote the book. One chapter was by Eric, the next by Leslie, and so on. Anyway, back to the point..........I saw how Eric totally committed his entire life to God, and let him decide what was best for him, and he'd do it. No matter what. But, like me, after taking a long time to think if he REALLY wanted to give up to God to choose what girl he goes out with, what he does, etc. etc. But he finally gave in everything he had. God led his life beautifully after that. Their story inspired me so much that I knew I was in the wrong with the way I thought, the way I lived, the way I talked, and the way I acted. So that night, after going to bed, still thinking about their story, I opened up to God and said that I'm ready to give my life, all my guns, all my bows, everything I have to him, and to do with them whatever he deemed best for me. It took a long time for me to finally give everything up, but I finally did, and I feel better now that I have that load off of my mind, and I'm going to try to live a better christian life from now on. I just want to thank each and every one of you guys for supporting me when I was feeling down, and sticking up for me, and praying for me. And for all you youths out there, if you ever get a chance, PLEASE read "When Dreams Come True" by Eric and Leslie Ludy. It's a TRUE love story built by, and around God. VERY inspiring. Louisa loaned me the book so that I could learn a few things about treating girls right and how to be gentle with them and not to hurt them. Little did she know how much that book impacted me. As far as she knew, I had been a christian for a long time. (I had never cussed around her, never been obcene, or rude, or taken God's name in vain) Most of the time I was a nice guy around women. Anyway, sorry for the looooooooooooooong ramble, but I had to tell someone. Thanks again for your support guys! You don't know how much it means to me! buckee
Re: A Christian Hunter\'s Devotions and Studies Praise the Lord Grant. You know buddy...the story you just told, is very familiar to me and many of us. I have, many times prayed to God, that he would put people in other peoples lives to share his truth with them, and for the Holy Spirit to speak to their hearts ...and I have seen God answer that prayer so many, many times. God knows when a man is searching for truth and is ready to hear it. Awesome Grant .
TreeWalker
Re: A Christian Hunter\'s Devotions and Studies WOW.......that is a truely inspiring story in it's own right Grant........to know the road you've been down and to read as your life has progressed......even though I have never met you, I feel as though you're one of the young men "just down the street" that I've known since they were a lil' shaver..... And I must apologize everyone..........I haven't had the opportunity to be in here alot lately, but I am moved by all the love for Christ that there is amongst us........Buckee and Jaret's testimonies speak volumes........and it takes a big heart for a man to speak about his past, often our own pride can keep us from voicing our previous mistakes..........but that pride can also hide the glory to God for taken us out of those horrible situations.......God works through us all, and was working through Lousia to help you Grant. Grant, I think the right things are happening......being Christian for you before was a job because others expected you to be that way........now you are being Christian because it is your choice and for your salvation.........the seed had been planted, you can thank truely your parents for that......it simply took some freinds to do the watering.........Glory be to God !! buckee
Re: A Christian Hunter\'s Devotions and Studies Yes Clay..it always amazes me when I see the Lord work in peoples lives. One man tills the ground, the other plants the seed, the other waters the seed and then comes the harvest. LUKE8:4-18 4 And when much people were gathered together, and were come to him out of every city, he spake by a parable: 5 A sower went out to sow his seed: and as he sowed, some fell by the way side; and it was trodden down, and the fowls of the air devoured it. 6 And some fell upon a rock; and as soon as it was sprung up, it withered away, because it lacked moisture. 7 And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprang up with it, and choked it. 8 And other fell on good ground, and sprang up, and bare fruit an hundredfold. And when he had said these things, he cried, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear. 9 And his disciples asked him, saying, What might this parable be 10 And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand. 11 Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God. 12 Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved. 13 They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away. 14 And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection. 15 But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience. 16 No man, when he hath lighted a candle, covereth it with a vessel, or putteth it under a bed; but setteth it on a candlestick, that they which enter in may see the light. 17 For nothing is secret, that shall not be made manifest; neither any thing hid, that shall not be known and come abroad. 18 Take heed therefore how ye hear: for whosoever hath, to him shall be given; and whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he seemeth to have. buckee
Re: A Christian Hunter\'s Devotions and Studies The Bible .. Many people believe the Bible was written by men..which is true only in the sense of who was holding the pen. It was by the inspiration of God that it was written. It proves itself, historically and prophetically. Here is a link some of you may find interesting. the Bible

TreeWalker
Re: A Christian Hunter\'s Devotions and Studies HI guys......the wife and I are going to see it this Friday.....I have mixed emotions about it already, but I know that I owe at least this much to "see" it................... It amazes me that the Jewish are up in arms for how they interperate the film to show they killed Jesus...........don't they realize.....we all did ??!! My time is gonna be limited in the forums for several weeks my friends........Besided work and remodeling our home (myself), we are in the process of starting our own business........in a building which will also include our towns Christian youth center...............it's great to see things fall into place, even though it is a lot of work...........you can also tell we're getting close to "enemy" territory, as satan is trying to pry our work apart..........as I was working in the youth center a couple days back, an outlet that my radio was plugged into, suddenly burst into flames............I was shook up, but simply prayed for comfort...........our Pastors have also spoke of personal attacks, etc..........little does the devil know he will loose, for the Lord our God has already won
jaret
Re: A Christian Hunter\'s Devotions and Studies Hey guys and gals. I ask for your prayers. A few days ago my grandfather found out that he has cancer in his pancreas and they told him there's nothing they can really do for it. They said he has 6 or 7 months to live, he'd be lucky to live till Christmas. My grandfather is not saved. So we're believing for him to get healed or get saved or both! He asked to borrow one of my mom's Christian magazines yesterday that this months edition had war stories from Christian accounts and such, and included in the magazine is a prayer to invite Jesus into the person read's life. I hope he really done that. Everyone I just ask that you keep my grandfather in prayer. I'm by no means ready for my grandfather to die. He just can't die. He and my dad are the ones who helped peak my interest in hunting. But with all of our prayers, our prayers will be powerful and effective. Jesus said in the Bible that if two or more are gathered in His name, He's there in the midst of us. So please pray. Thank you guys. -J

TreeWalker
Re: A Christian Hunter\'s Devotions and Studies Today is the day we remember more than ever.... “And behold there was a great earthquake. For an angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and coming, rolled back the stone, and sat upon it. And his countenance was as lightning, and his raiment as snow. And for fear of him, the guards were struck with terror; and became as dead men.” (Matt. 28:2-4). .........and the angel declared to them, "He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay" (Matthew 28:6)
buckee
Re: A Christian Hunter\'s Devotions and Studies He is risen....Hallelujah, he has risen. Some folks don't quite understand the significants of the resurrection. When Jesus was crucified, his followers, actually gave up on their pilgrimage with who they had believed to be their savior and basically were in the process of just going back their old lives and forgetting the whole thing. Their faith had been destroyed, along with their savior, because they did not yet comprehend, why he had to die. Christianity wouldn't even exist today, if Jesus hadn't revealed himself to them and 5,000 others after he rose from the dead. The apostles went from disciples, to deserters, and then back to disciples who were willing to follow him to their death, after he was resurrected. I find that truly amazing in itself, because down through history their have been many people who were willing to die for what they believed to be the truth, on a second hand basis ....but, the disciples where different in the fact that they walked with Jesus, talked with him, saw him perform miracles, saw him die on the cross, felt the disappointment and discouragement of losing their faith, and then being revived by seeing their savior, in the flesh, after his death. Then going on to spread the gospel, to their death afterward. He is risen, yes...he is risen
TreeWalker
Re: A Christian Hunter\'s Devotions and Studies It's interesting Buckee..........how many of us have lost Faith from time to time, and been disappointed or discouraged by how life treats us..........only to be lifted up by the hand of God ??!! I beleive it all helps us to be able to associate ourselves with the non-beleiver, but be able to witness to him as well...... On a second note...I have a praise report.........last weekend was a really slow one as far as our new business endeavor goes............I kept telling myself that it was a test...things had been going so well, lot's of kids, busier than we could have imagined........and then WAM, we made less than half compared to the other weekends......... But I couldn't shake the feeling that it was a test......I told the wife that we were gonna tithe even more than we normally do........tithe till it hurts.....after all, God provides.... Well for the past couple weeks, we've been struggling with our insurance carrier.....the decided to bump the value of the building which was gonna jack our premium way up................our agent wasn't happy with this either, and was looking for other carriers but just wasn't having any luck........ He had one company that looked like they were willing to work something a little better than what we currently had, but they dropped out at the very end, saying that they just couldn't do it................... Well, yesterday, my agent calls me and says he has absolutley no idea why........but this company called him back with a renewed interest...........and a quote for LESS THAN HALF of what we are currently paying for a premium !!!!!!!!! It's gonna save us a couple thousand dollars a year !!! Now you non-believers tell me that God doesn't work in mysterious ways ???!!! It is beyond our imagination.........but not beyond our recognition........thank you Lord for helping my family and putting our minds at ease.... Something so simple as tithing and offering is overlooked by so many, but is so powerful in the eyes of the Lord.....since tithing and offering 10%+, we've seen the Lord's hand work so many times in our lives.............and we also have seen the affects of not tithing enough, not keeping the Lord and the Church as a priority...it's not fun, and I won't make the mistake again any time soon....... TreeWalker
Re: A Christian Hunter\'s Devotions and Studies Last night our Church held a "Light for the Lost" banquet..............for those of you not familiar with it (and to be honest, I'm still learning), it's basicly an organization that is publicly funded, and uses those funds for materials to teach the word to those that most likely have never had the opportunity.......like those in the rainforests, the orient, etc.... Our speaker was a man of 35, from Cambodia.......who was raised during the horrible Communist reign.......Pol Pot and his Khmer Rouge, and lost many friends and family in the "Killing Fields".... I had heard of this place, but never knew the history of it........sickening to think what the survivors had to live through and continually endure............they suffer to this day, as they still feel like they have no hope.........those that have been fortunate enough to find Christ, are truely feeling born again in every sense.... This man was a living tribute and testament to God, I wish I had the time to tell more of his story, but believe me it was moving..... So on to the rest of the night..........we had some of the best steaks to be found in this country.....mouth watering to say the least.......and of course the rest of the trimmings and deserts were equally as good.....it was a great night of fellowship and worship
