deerslayer2295
Re: A Christian Hunter\'s Devotions and Studies Hello all, awhile back I wrote to some of you and said that I felt that I was being called to serve, but was afraid to make a commitment for fear of failure. Failing to serve my lord as a good christian, failing to be able to live the life I need to, to glorify god. I struggled with this for such a long time. I believe it was right before Christmas. But I want you all to know that today that all changed for me. While at church today god was working on me something fearous, and was telling me to come to him, come and ask for forgiveness. Come and pray for your salvation. I spoke to my pastor and told him I needed to go to the alter. I asked him to please help me to pray to god, help me to feel gods love and forgiveness for my sins. I told him that I was ready to lift those burdens from my shoulders, and to serve Christ. I asked him to please pray with me and for me, because I needed to learn to pray, and while I was at the alter, I felt a burning in my heart. A feeling that I have never quite felt before. I felt as though a million pounds had been lifed from my shoulders. I just wanted you all to know that I feel so much different, and it feels awesome. I also want to thank all of you who responded to me in my time of need and that your thoughts and prayers helped me tremendously. Please continue to pray for me so that I may grow in Christ, and be the Christian that god wants me to be. Thank You once again, Curt

TreeWalker
Re: A Christian Hunter\'s Devotions and Studies It seems that I haev let this thread slide into obscurity lately........and my daily devotions as well.. I don't know if it is the spring time weather and the need to get a "thousand" things done that I put off over the winter........or if it is Satan trying to occupy my time with endless tasks to keep me away from what is right.......praying, reading my Bible and worshipping the Lord...... I've been weak in these three important areas from time to time.....especially in reading my Bible, and it has been showing in my actions as well.......please keep me in your prayers if you get a chance, I need to get back on track......God Bless you all. John 3:21 But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God. preacherman
Re: A Christian Hunter\'s Devotions and Studies Matthew 7:1-2 is a passage that has been on my mind this week because of some things going on in my church. The Bible says; "Judge not, that ye be not judged." "For with what judgement ye judge; ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete; it shall be measured to you again" Guys, we have to be careful of the views and attitudes that we have towards others. Because the Bible teaches us that basically when we begin to judge others for faults in our lives that we are doing nothing more than attempting to place ourselves in the position of God. So, as we go through our days and meet and see people; let's be careful to be mindful of the words that Jesus said in Matthew 7:1 "Judge not that ye be not judged"
AaronS
Re: A Christian Hunter\'s Devotions and Studies It's been a while since I've felt like I've had anything to add to this thread, but I have to lift up a praise. I found out a little over a month ago that the company I work for is closing its doors June 8th and taking all their business to China. Needless to say I was a little stressed about providing for my family. Over the past week my family has been blessed not once but twice financially in ways that will lift a huge burden of debt from our shoulders. I've also been interviewing and that is going very well. It appears that 3 or 4 companies are interested in me. Although I probably won't make what I am now, it will be nice to have a job. Praise God for all He does for us, even though we never deserve it. I went through a similar situation about a year and a half ago when my company was acquired by a Canadian company and immediately began reducing the headcount. When it was time to make my decision, I have 3 separate and very appealling offers; one of which was with the Canadian company. I ended up leaving and have been thoroughly blessed. preacherman
Re: A Christian Hunter\'s Devotions and Studies I have recently started a church wide e-mail letter that I am going to try to send out once a week. I wanted to post the two that I have already sent out and see what you guys think. If you would like to be added to the list, just PM me your e-mail address and your name and I will put it in. Here is the first installment: I read an interesting story the other day about a young boy who walked into a drugstore and asked to use the telephone. He dialed the operator and asked her to connect him with a certain number. When the party came on the line, the boy said, "Hello, Dr. Anderson.........do you want to hire a boy to cut your grass and run errands for you?" After a long pause he said, "Oh, you already have a boy? Are you completely satisfied with the job he's doing?" Another pause, "OK then, good-bye, Doctor" As the boy thanked the druggist and prepared to leave, the druggist called to him. "Just a minute, son.........I couldn't help but overhear your conversation. If you are looking for work, I could sure use a boy like you." He replied, "Thank you sir, but I have a job"............ "You do?" the druggist replied....... "But didn't I just hear you trying to get a job from Dr. Anderson?"............ "No Sir" the boy said "I am the boy who is working for Dr. Anderson and I was just checking up on myself" The Psalmist asked the Lord in Psalm 139:23 and 24 to "Search Him and Try Him and to Know His thoughts and to see if there was any wicked way in him so that he might lead him in the way everlasting" You know, truthfully, it is in our best interest spiritually from time to time to sit down with God and ask Him to do the same thing for us. We face the struggles of life and just the grime of every day living and sometimes because of it, we find that the things that should matter the most in our life, take a back seat to everything else. So, I encourage you to do, as I have done over the last several weeks and that is to ask God to do these things for you. Ask Him to reveal to you the areas in your spiritual life that you need to tweek and work on. And as He does reveal them to you, repent of them and renew your relationship and commitment to Him! Be Blessed, Scott
preacherman
Re: A Christian Hunter\'s Devotions and Studies Here is the second installment: As I have said from the pulpit many times...........when Susan and I went to New Center Point we were introduced to a lot of songs that we had never heard. Matter of fact, one of the things that we found "culture shock" from.......was from moving from a big beautiful hymnal to the "red book." We learned new songs like "Royal Telephone" and "Sunshine In The Soul" and "I Love To Talk To Jesus." But without a doubt, one of my favorite songs that we learned was actually page 331 in the "Red Book" entitled "I Need The Prayers" It goes something like this: verse 1 I need the prayers of those I love, while traveling o'er life's rugged way. That I may true and faithful be, and live for Jesus every day. verse 2 I need the the prayers of those I love, to help me in each trying hour, to bear my tempted soul to Him, that He may keep me by His power. verse 3 I want my friends to pray for me, to hold me up on wings of faith, that I may walk the narrow way, kept by our Father's glorious grace. Chorus I want my friends to pray for me, to bear my tempted soul above, and intercede with God for me; I need the prayers of those I love. You think about it, we all have problems and burdens and difficulties in life and sometimes find it hard throughout our day. It is during these times that we really desire for others to pray for us and to intercede on our behalf. It is the prayers of those that we love that we count on during the difficult days in our life. That is why I want to encourage you todayto do the same for someone else.........to take some time out today and pray for those you love. Pray for those you are acquainted with. Pray for those you go to church with. To lift them up to Jesus and to be an intercessor for them! See You Tonight! Be Blessed! Scott
AaronS
Re: A Christian Hunter\'s Devotions and Studies I'm feeling totally blessed today. I accepted a job offer yesterday from a local furniture company. It will be a culture shock for me. I am moving from a company of 70 employees (150+ just 6 years ago) to a company of 1700 employees that is growing. I'm also moving from HR to a role in purchasing. I look forward to the challenge of learning my new position and look forward to meeting everyone. As they say, the Lord works in mysterious ways. As frustrating as things were for the last several years, God has been preparing my wife and I for this occasion. Preparing us by showing us we can get by on less. My wife and her ex own a building together that has been for sale for 5 years. I would get in a bad mood every month when I had to write the mortgage check. It was a sizable check each month, and it didn't matter if we were struggling or not, the bank wanted their money. The idea of finding a new job with a probable cut in pay was worrying me. As always, God came through and totally blessed us recently. Last week we were able to pay off our credit card bill and eliminate that debt that had haunted us, and he blessed us with a buyer for the building. We should be closing on the deal tomorrow if the paperwork is ready in time. He has made it possible to handle a cut in pay and allow me to get my foot in the door with a great local company. Again, thank you Father.
bfletch7441
Re: A Christian Hunter\'s Devotions and Studies That's great news Bowhunter! It seems like you alway's get what you need just in the nick of time. I alway's find it funny when people in similar situations are convinced they were "lucky" in finding a job or selling that building. I know I say the same thing sometimes, but when I really stand back and look at the situation, it becomes perfectly clear that God was watching over me and provided for me when I truly needed it. Sometimes I feel like the hard times are too many, too long, and too stressful for them to be tests of faith, but when I have weathered the storm and I've been provided what I truly need, I realize that God was watching the whole time, and there was a purpose in the struggles. It feels good don't it! Ben
huntinsonovagun
Re: A Christian Hunter\'s Devotions and Studies Pray for me guys. I'm going as a "sponsor" to our church's summer camp this week, which I'm pretty excited about. God's been dealing with me about teaching a class, and things are working out.... First of all, I thought teaching a sunday school class would never work out because of summer jobs (being a college student and all....never getting weekends off) but God opened a door there. I was actually approached by a church member about helping him for the summer burying TV cable Mon-fri only. So that leaves weekends open. Another thing about this job is being able to go to this camp. The deacon I work with said he was going to camp, but would work some days during the camp, then I said that I probably could have gone, had I known I'd have a job that would let me off. I signed up at the last minute. Get this too- I'm on salary, so we're working part of the week, but at church camp for most of the time. Things are just working out perfectly. No way in the world I could have CHOSEN this schedule, but God sees the bigger picture. I haven't gotten the courage to ask someone what I need to do in order to teach, but God is definatly working with me I feel. Keep praying for me about that and about church camp this week. I'm pretty excited!

TreeWalker
Re: A Christian Hunter\'s Devotions and Studies How do you all cope, when you are feeling a little week or frustrated spiritually ?? We've had what seems a bad stretch, but I really know we are still pretty fortunate, and I do give thanks to God for that.....I mean we've got our health, food, clothes and a roof over our head...........yet still life...errrr, Satan....has ways of knocking us down, and sometimes it's hard to be cheerful about your life...... Well, in two days we're heading to a Christian Family Camp for one week.......it couldn't come at a better time.....we could sure use the spiritual renewal.......but even in the past couple days, Satan has been trying to discourage us from going, by throwing unexpected financial roadblocks in our way........but he isn't going to keep us from going......It's the one thing I've been really excited for, and can't wait till we get there..........for those who are in the area and may want to attend, it is at Devils Lake (ironic, LOL)......here's a link... http://www.lakewoodcamp.com/

I could definitely use something like that right now with some of the challenges I am dealing with at work right now (e.g. layoffs, reorgs, staffing issues, etc.). Anyway, this it's about me... iminrut - one of the things that I do when in a spiritual rut is to do a little fasting which lets me spend more time in the word and in prayer. I could hurt to share with some Christian brothers and sisters and maybe even get together for a little fellowship and bible study or something. Hope that helps. Either way, you will be in my prayers.
TreeWalker
Re: A Christian Hunter\'s Devotions and Studies HarvDog...we've had a couple discussions with friends about fasting.......what do you consider fasting ?? Anybody else is welcome to add in as well..... To some of my friends who have been born again longer than I, it could be as simple as not eating dinner for a couple days........to me it means giving up something until God speaks to your heart.....could be not eating for more than 24 hours or so.........I know it is probably something I need to take to task again and thanks for bringing it up HD........and I like the Bible study thing....I think we need to get in touch with some other couples and get this started once again........... By the way HD, I know what you are talking about concerning work.......we had a big restructering a couple years ago......got rid of hourly employees and added more management is what happened, and we continue to feel the fall-out daily........it's got me searching for a new jobs almost daily as well......
