Re: A Christian Hunter\'s Devotions and Studies

Just read your post reloader. Life's turmoils can really get us down, can't they.

I just wanted to say that I believe you're hearing God's voice pretty clear in this situation. When we have done all that we can and finally come to the realization that there are other powers and principalities at work in the world and on our job also, there really is nothing else we can do, but pray for justice, and like you have already said and is stated in another bible verse "Be still, and know, that I am God".

When all is said and done, His mercy, grace and justice, is all that is left, and we just have to trust in his timing.

Re: A Christian Hunter\'s Devotions and Studies

I thought this was pretty good...

DIRECTIONS TO OUR FATHER'S HOUSE.

Make a Right onto Believeth Blvd.

Keep straight and go through the Green Light, which is Jesus Christ.

There, you must turn onto the Bridge of Faith, which is over troubled water.

When you get off the bridge, make a Right turn and Keep Straight.

You are on the King's Highway - Heaven-bound.

Keep going for three miles:

One for the Father, One for the Son, and One for the Holy Spirit! Amen, Amen Amen!.

Then exit off onto Grace Blvd.

From there, make a Right turn on Gospel Lane.

Keep Straight and then make another Right on Prayer Road.

As you go on your way,

Yield Not to the traffic on Temptation Ave.

Also, avoid SIN STREET because it is a DEAD END.(yes-sah)

Pass up Envy Drive, and Hate Avenue.

Also, pass Hypocrisy Street, Gossiping Lane, and Backbiting Blvd.

However, you have to go down Long-suffering Lane,Persecution Blvd. and Trials and Tribulations Ave.

But that's all right, because VICTORY Street is straight ahead!

Glory AMEN!!!!!

My wife and I lost 4 children before birth, but the Lord blessed us with one very lovely daughter, who has been a real blessing ever since she was born. She is now 24 years old.

Re: A Christian Hunter\'s Devotions and Studies

Hey guys. I haven't been in on this thread since the very beginning, I believe. I'm needing more. Since being in college, (or maybe a little before I started) I haven't kept up with my daily devotions. I can tell I am not "moving forward" either. I'm needing more. I'm looking for a good devotional. I need something inspiring, that makes me want to study and seek God. Before, I've honestly almost dreaded doing my devotions, because I couldn't relate the messages to my daily life, most generally. I feel I need something a little more "in-depth" than a teen devotional, but I'm not married or a father. Kinda puts me at an awkward stage of life I guess.

It's been a while since I've really sought God, and while I've still kept my faith and morals, and the Holy Spirit has dealt with me DAILY, I haven't felt as if I've been growing lately. (Actually for quite some time now)

It sure would help if I had some Christian friends, but as you know, true Christians are few and far between these days. Many claim to be a Christian, but few live like a Christian. I'm in the process of trying different chruches in the area, since I have moved away from "home" while attending college. It is so hard to make myself walk into a church by myself, knowing no one. I sometimes feel it would be easier if I had someone to grow with, but then I think of the song..."though no one join me, still I will follow, no turning back, no turning back." That song becomes reality when you live it. Truly tougher done than said. I always thought it would be a walk in the park, but it ain't easy. I guess this is just a test to see if I really will follow. I'm just ready for the test to be over. grin.gif

Anyway, just think of me when you pray, and ask for my strengthness. Also let me know of any inspiring and uplifting devotionals!!! wink.gif

Thanks guys.....

It definately helps to have Christian friends who share the same passion for the outdoors that you do Ryan. Don't be afraid to seek them out in church. I've got a few good Christian friends that share the love of hunting with me, which keeps us in touch and close. I don't know what I'd do without them.

Re: A Christian Hunter\'s Devotions and Studies

Don't fret on it too much. Everyone here has wandered and wondered on their faith. You'll eventually find a church that suits you. Just remember, you are there for one thing, and one thing only, worship. I found myself going to a church for more social reasons at one time in my life, and realized the people I was socializing with weren't truly concerned with my, or their own, faith and relationship with the Lord the way I thought they should be. That's when I met, not really met but got reacquainted with, my wife. She is my guardian angel. God sent her to me to bring me home to the church we now attend, and I've never been happier. What I'm saying is that great things happen when you're not really looking for them. Just get out there and start going to church. Spend time working on your faith. You'll eventually find some place that touches your soul, and something great will happen. Just keep your faith in our savior Jesus Christ, and everything will be revealed in due time.

Luk 5:20 "And when he saw their faith, he said unto him, Man, thy sins are forgiven thee."

Thanks for sharing Ben. I think we all need to be reminded about this every once in awhile. We should be there for one thing and one thing alone...to worship our Savior!!! That's for the check!

Re: A Christian Hunter\'s Devotions and Studies

I learned a little something the last couple weekends........the church we regularily attend is an Assemblies of God, and we absolutely love it.....we have a great Pastor......worship and sermons are energized and upbeat......nothing but the love and grace of God...........

But last weekend, we decided to head about 60 miles from home to attend another AG church that hasn't been doing so well......a friend of ours has been substitute preaching there while they try to locate a new Pastor, and we decided to go to give him and that church a little support.......we thought his son was joking when he said we'd double that church's attendance......turns out he wasn't kidding ?!?!?

Our family of 6, and another family of 4 which our also friends, made the trek........I was saddened with the realization that the services had begun and besides us 10, there were only 7 much older folk there.......we more than doubled their attendance.

And as we sang some popular new worship songs, it didn't have that zest or zeal......it felt more like we were at a funeral.........

But on an positive note, our good friend that has been substitute preaching there, did a fantastic job........he reminds me of what a good country preacher would be like......down to earth, in laymens terms and on fire for God...........it helped me to realize that while we know we have a great Pastor and Church at home, sometimes a person needs to step out of that comfort zone, and check out and support other churches from time to time.......sure I kinda felt guilty for attending a different Church, but I do now realize that it's good to hear God's word from a different perspective every now and then, and it keeps us fresh in our daily walk as well.........

Re: A Christian Hunter\'s Devotions and Studies

I was not raised with religion, nor do I know as much as I should. But upon stumbling on this thread tonight, I am touched. For a few years now I have been interested in god, and this past summer I laid in bed crying asking for jesus to come into my life, I still havenn't gone to services on a regular basis, but I do pray, i do not know what I am trying to say other than I am glad I found this. I guess this thread is kinda like my wake up call. Thank you all for your thoughts and scripture. This is a very moving thread and hope this continues.

Re: A Christian Hunter\'s Devotions and Studies

Justin, I'm glad you found this too......just remember, God has a plan for you, and often we wonder why there are stumbling blocks in our path.....why bad things seem to happen to us, but it is all to mold us...to shape us...to prepare us for greater things later......many of us have very similar backgrounds.....sinful youth on into adulthood....including bouts with alcohol....even drugs, and run-ins with the law........but it all gave us the ability to associate with others and to witness to those about God's grace and how he saved us from those inner demons and self destruction...........man if you ever need to talk, just shoot me or any of the ohter members a PM, and I'll try to catch up with you as soon as I can, as I'm sure the others will as well....I'll pray for you in the meantime my "southerly" neighbor.....

you guys i just pray that you'll keep on doing this.

and as for those that stumble onto here, i pray that you glean some nugget of truth from what they have had to say, and for those who have not accepted Jesus as your lord an savior, i pray that he will touch your heart. all you have to do is admit that your a sinner and know that you have done wrong in God's eyes, ask for forgivness, ask jesus to come live in your heart. and find a church to go to and rejoice in the fact that god has saved you. i ask GOD's blessings on everyone of youright now in JESUS'S name , amen

Just saw this post today and love it. Everyone, keep giving your testimonies! I'ts what inspires and builds up the faith of others to reach out in faith. I attend a non-denominational, charismatic, multi-racial church that started with maybe a 100 of us. The music is very upbeat and inspiring. You can feel HIS presence in the service. Our pastor came ouy of a very strict church and he started preaching in his teens. As time went by, he began to question some of the things he was taught. He felt he had to leave which meant his parents, family, friends, etc. Now the church is about 2000(not because of us) but because he preached Gods word and Gods word will not come back void. Just like you guys giving your testimonies, it builds you up and helps build up others and gives you something to stand on when the "old man" comes around. Remember to talk first when he does show up. God bless you all! Forgot, we have devotionals atchurch web-site: http://www.clctoday.org. I love your testimonies. They build me UP! grin.gif

Re: A Christian Hunter\'s Devotions and Studies

OldBuck, my church is similar. Back when my wife and I first started attending the church had just split over how to minister towards non-church goers and seekers. Our Pastor had a vision of having a church with a relaxed atmosphere where anyone that entered the doors would feel comfortable and not put under a microscope. We started with around 50 people and now 6 years later with all the help from the Lord we are right at 2000 on a weekend. It made me realize that it's loving people first and creating relationships that opens their hearts to Jesus. I have never been more on fire for the Lord than I am in my everyday walk now. About 80% of our members are new converts. God Bless everyone and keep your eyes focused on HIM. www.southbrookchurch.org

Just checked your churchs site and most important, what you believe. That tells me a lot. Your church is growing and yhats great. More brothers and sisters I'll meet someday. Its not the churchs name, but whats in the heart of the folks there thats going to reach people, for out of the mouth tells me what is in a persons heart. Keep up the good work and keep looking ahead for the coming of the Lord!! Praise him in EVERYTHING!!!
