WaCoyote
I highly recommend a revolver for a beginner. My buddy disagreed and shot himself in the leg with an "empty" .45. IMO they are far safer for a beginner till you gain experience. There are tons to choose from. Go to the S&W website. They've got some great compact revolvers. A Kimber sounds good though. LifeNRA
My first pistol was a S&W 5906 9mm. Obtaining good accuracy was very hard in the beginning. I then bought a S&W 686 .357, this was much better getting bullets to hit where I wanted. So as WaCoyote said a revolver might be best. But as long as you practice good safety and know where that muzzle is at all times. To me, it makes know difference what you get. But you will have to practice more with a auto-loader. If I were to buy one today, it would a compact .40.
bluelund79
For gettin good with a pistol, start with a .22 and get your form down, then worry about gettin a concealable weapon. Revolvers are nice, and so are autos, find out what you want, get a .22 in the same form (i.e-revolver or semi) and get good...Have fun and be safe. jcs3344
well i think i made my mind up on a glock 19 or 23 ! looks to be a great gun and small for concealed. what do you guys think about the gun?
popgun
I have a Glock 23 and it is a fine handgun. Once loaded, most of the weight will be transferred to the butt or grip. This makes it a little top heavy or lopsided and it don't carry concealed very well. The best for concealed in my opinion is a S&W Chief Special (snub nose) in .38 special. The weight is distributed to the center of the handgun and it fits more snugly against your body. Remember a concealed weapon must remain concealed. ....popgun
HarvDog
My first handgun was a revolver, Ruger 357mag with a 6" barrel, which I still have and LOVE! I now carry a Springfield XD 40 SC as my CCW.
