crossbow recommendations

I plan on buying me a new crossbow. I have been hunting with an older Horton that has seen its better days. I would like a bow that shoot at least 300fps. I would like to keep the price at no more than $500. Any recommendations? I have looked at Horton, Parker, and X-Caliber.

First you need to find out what the maximum poundage you can shoot in Ohio. I believe PA has a 200 pound limit, which seems pointless, and also why I mentioned this just in case Ohio does. Best thing you can do is shoot them all. Find the one you like, and suits you the best.

Keep in mind, just like regular bows they all have a certain amount of noise! I was with my father when he shot a bunch of Xbows. Xcaliber was the loudest, the Parker Safari Magnum was the quietest. He bought the Parker. Also look into which Xbow will give you more bang for your buck! Another reason he bought the Parker. Some Xbows come with no accessories, for the same price, some come loaded with everything you need to start hunting right away! Another reason my father bought the Parker. Good luck!

Is this amount you mentioned just the bow alone or with accessories? If the price you mentioned is with accessories (scope, bolts, etc.), then you are really limiting your choices but some companies offer package deals.

If I were you, I would get and Excalibur. Hard to beat their quality, price, and warantee.

Go to Google and type, Crossbow Forums, You may get more answers to your question there.
