nativetexan
Who is an Obama supporter? I have 3 friends who support him and I have pretty much chosen to just not make the effort or continue arguing. Normally, I wouldn't care about one's political beliefs, but this election has the possibility of having dire consequences for our country. johnf
Yes, I could be friends as long as politics didn't come up. The people I would consider close friends would not share the views or lack of values that Obama has so the chances of that happening are nill. johnf
Didn't realize that a political discussion could be closed because it was too politcal.
oldksnarc
Me, too. The people I call friends would not support him. But, if there were some who did I could still be friends - as long as they didn't raise the issue or try forcing their opinion on me. Of course, I don't mind forcing my opinion upon them and trying to open their eyes. Like puppies are born blind until they open their eyes, everyone's born liberal until their eyes are opened. buckee
I voted no, and I'm Canadian.
wtnhunt
Think if you have true friends, you would not turn your back on them for them being blind or having a difference of opinion. Kind of tough to vote on your poll with the way you posted it.
stevebeilgard
i do have friends who support obama, and we do have discussions. i have my opinion and they have theirs. pretty simple. friends are friends, not folks who follow my beliefs in lock step... nativetexan
It's not that I am trying to get my friends to march in lockstep with me. They constantly talk about him and how great he will be for this country. If I question their beliefs, it turns hostile. I'm really tired of it and that was why I posted this. Maybe I was a bit too vague..but, i'm tired of it.

Maybe I was a bit too vague..but, i'm tired of it. There is obviously a big difference in friendly civil debate and hostile arguments. If it is the case that it is hostile, I would say no I could not be friends with them, especially if they were not open minded enough to have a civil debate without it turning hostile. If someone gets hostile with you over their political beliefs, they are probably not really your friends anyway.
slugshooter
I could be friends with just about anyone and their political beliefs. You can disagree with friends and their beliefs and maybe even have some playful banter or discussion. If someone turns on you or treats you differently from the person you really are based on political beliefs or who they or you support, then they really weren't that great of friends to begin with. Jeramie
could be worse folks, I got relatives who will vote Dem. no matter what:o I know people like that. Party line voters need kicked in the head. Im a registered Republican but if someone I firmly believed in ran on the Democratic bill they would get my vote. This, of course, is not one of those years.

But that's just me. I have plenty of friends that do (or don't do) the same.
