Ohiobucks
One of the guys I hunt with shot this turkey last spring, he was going to throw out the fan and beard. I offered to try to mount it for him and if I ruined it, he was out nothing. Here is the finished product (almost, I'm going to add a small engraved nameplate to the center)..... Next time, I'll know to pay more attention to the smaller feathers in the center of the fan, they came out kinda jacked up. Lesson learned I guess. What do you think, better than in the trash or not? Tominator
That looks real good Tom. Did you end up using the borax, or did you salt it? Were you able to get it flatter than the one I did for Jake?
Adjam5
Nice job. Very important to get all the fat and meat off and dried or the bugs will appear. I have 1st hand knowledge of this . It will provide memories for years to come.
Ohiobucks
That looks real good Tom. Did you end up using the borax, or did you salt it? Were you able to get it flatter than the one I did for Jake? Used Borax. Borax, scrape, Borax, scrape, Borax, scrape over and over... Yeah, it is flatter than the one you did for Jake, I think I trimmed all the meat & stuff off after it dried over and over, it is almost to the quills at the base. Very important to get all the fat and meat off and dried or the bugs will appear. I have 1st hand knowledge of this . Yep, it is all trimmed up nice, dried good & hard, no smell whatsoever.
