Tominator
My neighbor Marjie called me the other day. Marjorie's husband Cloise was in the hospital for surgery last week. Cloise is a good ol' boy. 86 years old, WWII vet, good guy. Short on words, but carries so much knowledge, I think you all know the type. So when Marjie called, i was really afraid to call back because I was really afraid that Cloise had passed away. I called her back and she says "Well, dad has had a change of heart for you, he wants to know if you're serious about buying 5 acres." See, I've been pestering them for years to sell me some land so that I could build a new house, since this one is too small for 4 kids. I was like "uhhhh, yeah, we're very serious." So Marjie says "well, come down and talk to me today." I couldn't believe it. I literally got goose bumps when I hung up. How do you like them apples? wtnhunt
Think that side and going back behind you was in corn when we were there Chris, same side as the pines you showed me where you talked about using a blind? Where you planning to build?

Tominator
Think that side and going back behind you was in corn when we were there Chris, same side as the pines you showed me where you talked about using a blind? Where you planning to build? Yep, was in corn when you were here. We would build a little closer to the road as the ground rises up there a bit. Talked to Margie for a couple hours. about 10 minutes about the land. The rest was just neighborly stuff that we always seem to talk about. One thing about that generation is they know the art of conversation--a lost art I'm afraid. So next step is she was going to call her real estate person today. She even said we could do a land contract buy. We danced around the price so I mentioned between $7,500 to $10,000 an acre. I just told her I wanted to be fair to her and Cloise, so I'll see what they come back with. Say a prayer this all works out folks, it surely would be a blessing. wtnhunt
Hope it all works out for you Chris. Can kind of relate in a way. Our old retired neighbor who has the woods next to our house is still hanging on to his place, one day he is ready to let it go, the next he is not, depends on the mood he is in that day. So long as he sells to us when he decides to sell it really does not hurt my feelings for him to put it off. Your situation with the kids, can understand wanting to build. Ohiobucks
WOW And I thought land around here was steep:eek::eek: It's all about location, Chris can be in the north side of Columbus, to some great restaurants and *ehmmm* shopping (if your into that kinda thing ), in about 15 minutes. I'm about 40 minutes from all the "good stuff" and land is about $5K per acre here. Good luck bro, hope it works out for you and your family.

Land around here goes for about 1700-2000 an acre for the good but not great stuff. Lake lots on the other hand go for about 35K for just one lot. Tominator
Just got home from Kelleys Island, and there was a message to call Marge. I noticed as I pulled in there was a survey stake out front. Sure enough, 5.4 acres was staked out. Cloise and Marge want $8,000 an acre. I'll save you the calculator work, $43,200.
