johnf
I was looking on IMR/Hogden and saw that Varget could be used on every single load for 223 from 40-100gr bullets. Have any of you used it? What results do you get?
WaCoyote
Good with some loads. OK with others. I like Benchmark a little better. TAC is AWESOME though. My .223 is finiky. Point of impact is different with every new load I try and the results are all over the place. I'm not sure if it's the caliber or the rifle, but I've found the .223 to be the hardest caliber to reload for. My 22-250 is the easiest. I t seems to shoot everything well. doubleA
Varget is a good powder and has a pretty wide range of use. In the 223 Rem it's going to give you slightly higher velocities over Benchmark. There are many powders in that burn rate that are going to give you good results, though YOUR rifle is going to choose what it likes. As far as 100 Gr bullet in .224...who is making that? Accurate makes a good ball powder for the 223 Rem, it's called 2230. I use it in a 52gr HP load that shoots great in 4 different 223's I have. Texan_Til_I_Die
As far as 100 Gr bullet in .224...who is making that? And who makes a barrel that would stabilize it? You'd need something like a 1:8 or 1:9 twist with that heavy a bullet.
