Casey played as the #1 golfer for his HS team yesterday. Nerves hit him the first 2 holes, but then he settled down for the rest of the round.

They have a nice team, and he will be playing as #2 the rest of the year. Was fun watching him play. :)

Go get 'em, Casey.

I've been getting out as often as I can. My game has been the better for it. I've shot two rounds of 41 and my putting is already about 20x better than it ever has been. I hope to be shooting high 30s in my league (which starts in a week:cool:) consistently by season's end. I think I can do it.

Thanks guys. He shot pretty well Thurs and Friday...should be ready for their match Monday.

I hit a 37 yesterday and 35 today. Par is only 34, so happy with my game so far

Anyone been out lately? I haven't been, the weather's been crap lately.

Casey was the top of the #2 players at their 4 school match yesterday. he's got another one today. :)

Casey shot an 85 and was low man on his team yesterday. He's been struggling, so it's great to see him have his best ever round in a HS match. :)

Going to be hitting the course @ 1:30 for my first time out this year, I changed my swing A LOT this year so hopefully I will be able to shoot decent as the year progresses... I was amazed at how wrong I was holding the club and how my back swing wasn't what it was supposed to be, now with that all changed I look forward to seeing what happens... If I can shoot anywhere near a 60 today through 9 holes I would be happy...

We played yesterday....it was a cold, damp 50 degrees and windy as all get out....shot 6 over, so I'm blaming the weather :D

Wanna thank Casey and my uncle for their bogeys on 8 and 9 to allow me to win by 1 stroke ;)

I had a great range session last night. I made some changes to how I setup and take away the club and I really added some consistency and club head speed. Now if the rain stays away, I'll see if I can carry this over to league night tonight.

Gonna be video taping my swing soon, I'll post it so you guys can tear it apart when I do.:D

Yeah, for sure. I was putting way too much weight on the balls/toes of my feet so I'm making sure I have the weight evenly distributed and over the arches of my feet now. I also widened my stance to make gain more balance and to help promote more body turn to get some head speed. Here's a pic that shows what I was doing (at left) and what I'm donig now on the right. The thought I use is keeping my rear out about 4 inches past my heels. You should be able to wiggle your toes if you're properly addressing the ball.

As for the takeway, I have a tendancy to take the club away inside which cause my main driver flaw which is anything from a push left to a bad slice at it's worst. So now I'm trying to make sure the shaft is parallel to the target line and ground about 1/4 into the start of my backswing. I'm also making sure my hands are on my toe line- hard to explain, but if I were to lay a club across my toes my hands would be over the shaft. Before my hands were way outside of that (if you look at the pic on the left, his hands are hanging to the right of his toes or "outside" of that line).

btw- realized I needed to make these changes after reading "The Picture-Perfect Golf Swing" by Michael Breed- a Golf Digest Top 100 Pro. The book discusses how to properly videotape your swing and analyze it, which I'm going to use it for, but what I liked about it is that he goes through, step-by-step what each element of the swing should be like. I hadn't been driving the ball as far as I was last year and I had been really pushing a lot of my iron shots and last night I was able to add distance and straighten myself out...for now at least...

Good stuff muggs.....

Guess I am going to have to check out that book ;):D

I think I am going to have to give that set up a try.... I know I too have most/all my weight on the balls of my feet/toes.....

As for the take away..... When I was a kid I took some lessons and one of the things I remember the guy telling me was my take away is to far inside.....So he told me to take my club away wide.....as if there was a baseball catcher behind me and I should try and make my club head hit him in the mask.....It helps me stay wide which helps me stay away from the dreaded slice with the driver....;)

Yeah, that's basically what I'm talking about. And when you take it away like that, the club will be parallel to your target line. That's huge for me too.

Casey made All-Conference for the golf team. He's #6 in the conference and just missed first team by 1 stroke. In the last conference match, he needed to win by 2 strokes and beat the kids 87-88.

Looking forward to his Jr and Sr years!

Proud of my boy!!!! :D
