CampRAGS
Yesterday morning my office phone rings and my desk Sgt is telling me that we are receiving numerous calls of a bear walking through neighborhoods and close to two day care centers. We finally get it to go up a tree and we were able to have DEC come and tranquilize him. He was young, a year old 150 lbs. he was tagged and taken to a safe place for relocation into the wild. pendog
Relocation does not work very well according to a PA game commision officer i talked to last year. We had a bear trapped in the parking lot where i work because the tasy freeze next door dumps alot of waste into their dumpster. Ice cream seems to be a favorite, I talked to the officer and he said it would take a relocation of over 100 air miles to really keep a bear from returning. He said he has relocated a bear over 80 miles by road before and the bear was back within the next week. Crazy!!
