turningcustomcalls
Hey all! I turn custom calls for a hobby and a little extra play money. What do you guys think about these calls. I have never had a chance to ask a group like this. Be honest, I want to get better. Thanks
dogdoc
definitely not the mold of most duck calls but kind of different. Is there a benefit to the longer barrel on these duck calls? They look nice but the real question is how do they sound???
camoman1
I agree, very sharp looking!! But sound is what i worry about most...

dogdoc
what kind of inserts are you putting in them--do you make double and single reeds calls? Do you have any sound files with your calls?

turningcustomcalls
Sorry it's taken so long to get back on here. Thanks for the comments and suggestions. Guys, I am a turner not a duck hunter. Any feed back you can give will be helpful. I do not make the reeds I buy them from a company called Hut Products. As far as the shape, the shape takes it's form on the lathe. I have seen hundreds of different shapes and sizes and throw my designs in the hat with the rest of them. When you guys go and buy a duck call, what are you looking for?
sportsman2500
When i buy a call it's all about how it sounds. If the call fits me. being fits the way i call. what may work for me may not work for someone else.
dogdoc
I like a sharp lookin' call on my lanyard but the most important is how it sounds. I want a call that will reach out but really want a call that will get down and dirty when the ducks are close to get that final commitment into the decoys. It's hard for someone to dish out the money for a call without knowing how it sounds--regardless of looks.
RTF
Guys, I am a turner not a duck hunter. I do not make the reeds I buy them from a company called Hut Products. If thats the case, I don't see how you could even tune them or even know if they sound realistic.
turningcustomcalls
Because the reeds come in a kit I am not able to tune them. I do not even know how to tune a call. Duck calls are something new to me. I just started making them about a year ago. I will try to get some audio files a.s.a.p. and you guys can tell me what you think.
