longbeardfever4ever
i just bought myself a jake gobble call and was wondering what everyone's opinion was on gobble calls? i know that they can be dangerous at times and i plan to use it mainly on private land. Although i may try it on really stubborn birds on public land. What's your opinion?
Guest dustyandthekillincrew
Well its like this, we went to S.E. Okla this season and had more toms gobble and actually come to use using a gobble tube this season than ever. BUT, we tried it on one of our Rio's this year and as soon as my brother shook it that tom took off like lighten. So it can work and sometimes it can't. But if I was you I would for sure give it a try.
Strut10
I don't have much (any) time for gobble calls. If I feel the need to gobble, I'll do it on a diaphragm. I can count the number of times on one finger that gobbling has helped me with a bird.
EKYhunter
I gobble on a mouth call and have used this to call in birds. Some birds will only answer a gooble call and nothing else. You'll also be suprised at the birds that will give their location away to a gobble call, especially in the middle of the day to late afternoon. It's just another tool to have like the fighting purr.
