Nationwide race at Milwaukee Mile

Went and watched the Nationwide race at the Mile last nite. Good time for sure....Milwaukee race fans are a bit sour at Edwards though. Almost everybody cheered for him as he took the checkered flag....but he was soon boo'd in the winners circle for not doing any burnouts or backflips or even celebrating much at all. He told the media it was to show respect to Kalitta who was killed earlier... Can you really see a drag racer being upset about a burnout??? And the people next to us had scanners and said that Carl told his crew he didnt do any burnouts because " we dont celebrate like that here". Well i dont think we would shed a tear if you dont come back to the Milwaukee Mile Mr. Edwards unless that attitude towards your fans changes.

You are kidding, right? Your opinion of a driver would change because he didn't do a burnout? I've never seen Edwards do a burnout, only a backflip. He said in victory lane that he didn't like how he won (almost wrecked Bowyer) and didn't do a flip because of Kallita. I wonder how many Junior fans got mad and changed drivers when he didn't do a burnout a few years back after the Hendrick plane tragedy.

You should be happy with Carl's celebration. He did a polish victory lap, just like Kulwicki. That is the true Wisconsin celebration for a race win.

Get real.

I was a lil disappointed last weekend when Jr. didnt do a victory lap or a burnout after his first Sprint Cup victory in 76 races. You would have thought they could put a splash of gas in the car so he could at least do that for the fans. I'm a JR fan (and still am) and go down to that race every year and for him to win it for the first time ever and not do anything kinda made me a little sour.

Something like that could possibly lead to a DQ for that race. It is hard to say, I don't follow NASCRAP rules, so I don't know if a "post-race adjustment" like that would lead to being DQ'ed.

I know the last time I went to Milwaukee, there was nearly a riot when Johnny Sauter didn't come out in the rain and do a burnout after getting the rain shortened win.

I dunno...I kinda gained a little more respect for Edwards for his post race attitude. Said, it was a sad day and he didn't like winning the way he did...thats why he didn't do a celabration flip (kinda makes sense to me). He never does burnouts....although a drag racer prob. wouldn't care about a burnout...I think Edwards didn't do one out of respect for the family.

I say a big hats off to Edwards to show the respect to the family...and the respect to a fellow driver who he moved out of the way to get the win.
