mossyhorn
So I told you a while back I want to open my own sporting goods store, well I have been researching and have decided I have not got near enough money to do this. Yeah I could try to get a loan but that is such a large amount of money I don't think I will get it. Even if I did that would set me in such a bottomless pit of debt that I feel I would never get out. Is there any type of government funding/grant to start a business. I am looking for them but can't seem to find 1.
dartonman
You should look into building a website store first, get your resellers license through your state, and when you can become a dealer, sell the stuff just under the competition...godaddy is a great website to build from, and its practically free.......you may find that the website will take off faster than you predict, if you need good sound advise, I know a guy that I buy my supplies from for my paintball business, and he and one other guy are running (7) websites and they are multi millionaires......al

nativetexan
Start small (bait shop, used sporting goods, etc.). Like Steve said, get a business plan together and take it to your bank or the SBA. Check with your city and state also, they may have start up funds and tax breaks for startup businesses. Leasing a space to run your business is the best way to go initially. Depending on where you live, you can usually find a decent place to rent for a small amount of money. Also check companies like American Express Small Business for advice and credit terms you could work with.
Dawg
I'm right there with you man. I've been thinking about opening a tackle shop. Found what I think would be the perfect spot for it, the building is for sale and is just the right size...............but I don't have near enough money. I'm not sure what direction to go in to tell you the truth but it sounds like the other guys have some good info.
