Norm Sauceman
depending and waiting on folks to help me with picking things up. I was feeling pretty good one Saturday so the wife and I decided to go to an auction. At the auction, I bid on and won a large lot of jib-type/cherry-picker type crane parts. I won the whole lot for only $10 and there was enough parts to put together at least 3 to 4 pickers. I made mine strong enough that it has a 3-ton lifting jack and #1,000 lifting arms. As you can see by the pictures, I mounted one of them in the bed of my Rhino. When not in use, my son can take it apart and store it in our shed. I will be putting a small crane in my shed so I can put it together while it is parked in there as well. I am going to add one to my truck so I can put my wheelchair and anything else I need in there so I don't have to ask total strangers to lift stuff in there for me too. I am liking my new-found freedom and feel better so I don't have to keep relying and waiting on folks to help me when they can. Sometimes I have to wait for weeks, now I don't! Ha! texastrophies
That is cool, Norm. Like the way you have it mounted. One word of caution though, don't try to pick something up that is pretty heavy over the side where you have it mounted or you could end up turning it over on it's side. Norm Sauceman
That is cool, Norm. Like the way you have it mounted. One word of caution though, don't try to pick something up that is pretty heavy over the side where you have it mounted or you could end up turning it over on it's side. I thought about that too. I have a piece of 3" channel that was included in all the "stuff" I won in the lot. It fit perfectly under where the bolts from the mounting plate come out and has a flat "foot" piece to keep the back stable under a load. Can't believe how well this just worked itself out! Norm Sauceman
One more This is a picture of the arm at "rest". I made it so all I would have to do was to remove one pin and let the arm down. I added a spring to the bottom ro hold the arm in place when at "rest".
