wtnhunt
Have used several mineral attractants and "deer cain" works about like most others. Best advice I can give is to follow the directions. If it is the powder form, mix it with fresh tap water or fresh water from a creek or stream, a bucket and stick work well. Setup your mineral site near but not directly on an existing trail not far from food, water, and cover. Dig a shallow well in the ground to hold the minerals. When the deer find it they will dig it up.

sureshot
I won a block at a archery shoot, put it out last saterday were 3 trails meet, and put out the trail camera, over 100 pictures I got in 7 days, no huge bucks but every deer that came by was nose to the block, I did nto burry it just threw the block down and added a bottle of water on top,I am going down tonight again to see what there is for pics and going to burry it a bit and add a gallon of water to disolve it a bit! sure gets there attention ,not to sure if its just the deer folling the trails or what yet, it gets my thumb up so far! Those older deer are probably a bit more cautious Bret, but bet they will eventually move in too.

TexasDeerHunter
I have had good success in using it , deer seem to hit it hard late summer and early season and start laying off once the weather starts getting cooler.

crazylegz70
personally, I have used two bags in different spots and I have NEVER used water. I tried to find a low spot so that when it rained it got saturated, but I have never mixed it....try it straight out of the bag

HOYTnMUZZYboy
I have used it in the past with fairly good sucess! I put some at a hunting spot that only get hunted a few times a year and there still hitting it pretty decently, and i havent added to it since and that was 3 1/2 years ago... I put it about 10 yards off a X trail near some acorns. I took them a few weeks to find it and get to diggin in it. I dont think your doing anything wrong.. its just gonna take a lil time for them to find it. Sounds like they found Crazyleggs right away!!! ohiobuckhunter
maybe all the deer in your area "went clean"lol just give it time it will work is this the first kind of attractent that you have tried in the area? that could be some of the reason
coondog
I have used it off and on with over all good results when they hit it they hit it and there will be a hole in about 2-3weeks you can loose your truck hood some areas they just don't hit it well though I think the amount of minerals and if there are other supliments in the area play a big key in this. It says on bag clay soils work best but the best resluts I ever seen was on a sandy hill about 100 yards off a big sloughy creek bottom. crazylegz70
I also wanted to comment about the legal issue with using this stuff. I know in Illinois as of last year I am not able to use any kind of bait whether it be mineral or corn. It used to be that we could have it out like 30 days before season start, but as of last year....Its a BIG no no with the DNR...
crazylegz70
and I always asked myself..."how am I supposed to get this stuff out of the ground? shovel? backhoe? LOL
