WAY TO GO!!!

Associated Press2:28 PM CDT, June 30, 2008 WEST DES MOINES, Iowa - Indianapolis Colt tight end Dallas Clark has turned his autograph into money for disaster relief in Iowa.

The former University of Iowa football standout signed autographs Sunday at Jordan Creek Town Center in West Des Moines, asking people to donate $20 to help Iowans affected by flooding and tornadoes.

After signing autographs for more than four hours, Clark, a Livermore, Iowa native, raised more than $18,000.

Clark, who still lives in Livermore part of the year, says he wanted to do something to help Iowans affected by the floods and tornadoes.

However why is it that no one has done much for the flood victims off the Midwest....Yet when New Orleans went through the Katrina hurricane America pored their hearts and wallets out the New Orleans.....Anyone else find this interesting.:confused::confused::(:(:(

For real its cause we dont complain we just make it work and we seriously help each other ... everyone helps everyone ... I mean you haven't worked till you fill sand bags with the river coming up in front of you ... something about the pressure of getting it all done before it hits the top ... and then when it works and you save the neighborhood ...

The government will certainly take credit but trust me the only ppl that should get credit are the national guard and the corp of engineers ...

We were gonna go out and get the autograph but decided it was too busy ... I guess it was nuts out there.

well i have mixed feelings on this... yes it was a great deed he did, however, im betting some of his team mates make more than 18k per game.... heck per snap...lol... shame they didnt come through:o

Kind of think the same way. Shame some of those folks who make absurdly excessive amounts of money are not doing anything from their own pockets.

Always good to hear people helping out their own neighbors though, the Midwest and New Orleans are obviously quite different.

I kind of have mixed feelings on this also. Did he really do all that much? All he did was donate 4 hours of his time, it was his fans that donated the money. Probably some of the same people who had suffered, already.

The government will certainly take credit but trust me the only ppl that should get credit are the national guard and the corp of engineers ...

Aren't they part of the government?

I also agree it is a shame that the midwest doesn't get the same coverage and assistance that the gulf coast received.

Aren't they part of the government?

Sure they are but you know what I meant ... the guy behind the desk gets the credit but the guys out helping ppl in there homes get ridiculed for being in the service and for there volunteer work ... they give there all while the ppl behind the desk get all the credit makes me sick

Also cant take anything away from Clark he came here on his own time ... he gave his autograph none of them were pre signed ... sure a lot of them were the same ppl that got flooded ... 100% of the money went to flood victims ... how do you suppose he got here ... he didnt take any of that money and buy his ticket it was his own money ... also you dont think he could have been some place else making a lot more money on a for sure thing?

Thanks Dallas Clark is all I have to say.
