mowing clover

Thanks guys for the responses! I plan on giving mine a clipping the end of this month to cut down on unwanted weeds. I don't have access to a brush hog or pull begind mower, so I am going to use my rider which will cut to 4". Hopefully this isn't too low.

Four inches is about the lowest you want to cut, but it will not hurt your clovers cutting that low. I think they actually do better cut with a mower than what they do with a bush hog anyway. Was a really wet spring here, I used my little kubota with a 5 foot belly mower the first two cuttings this spring, the third cutting I had to use my bigger tractor with the bush hog, which just does not cut nearly as clean. My clover plots needs cut again now. Had been holding out for a neighbor to bale hay off of the field my plots are in, but he has not followed through for me, afraid I need to just go on and mow again.
