OJR
Try some Barnes bullets! Great penetration!
Jeramie
Barnes is a great bullet. Also consider Hornady, Sierra, and even the good old Corelokt. Great bullet construction doesnt have to come at a crazy price. I personally think a Corelokt is just about as good of a bullet as anyone could ever need. LifeNRA
The heaviest one you can find, in whatever your gun likes. Remington's don't shoot as well as Federals out of my Browning 270. Since I don't re-load rifle, I use the Federal Premiums. They only make 150 grain tips. Not sure if you can get heavier tips for re-loading. Strut10
From all the firsthand accounts I've heard, moose are not particularly hard to kill. So you should be good to go with your .270. Use a heavy-for-caliber bullet like the 150 gr. of good construction for deep penetration, as moose are a fairly "deep" critter. Place your shot behind the shoulder........not on it. You're not likely to break too many moose shoulders with a .270 and still hit vitals.
mailmanmark
.270 If you handload, try 140g Barnes TSX on top of 58g H4831sc it consistenly gives me <.5 @ 100yds. out of my Tikka T3. Good luck.
uncle john
I'll agree with the advice on the heaviest bullet the rifle will shoot well, and the ones with the best penetration. I also agree with the lung shot, if possible. It worked for me on the only one I ever shot at.
Guest Colorado Bob
I killed my Shiras bull with 180 grain Hornady out of my 30/06. With a 270 I would be leaning towards the 150 grain bullet. Probably the Federal premium ammo that has the 150 Nolser Partition. CB
