270 load for moose

Hi i am going moose hunting this year and will be using my 270win i was woundering if anyone could suggest the best load out of this kind of gun for moose thanks in advance.

The heaviest one you can find, in whatever your gun likes. Remington's don't shoot as well as Federals out of my Browning 270. Since I don't re-load rifle, I use the Federal Premiums. They only make 150 grain tips. Not sure if you can get heavier tips for re-loading.

From all the firsthand accounts I've heard, moose are not particularly hard to kill. So you should be good to go with your .270.

Use a heavy-for-caliber bullet like the 150 gr. of good construction for deep penetration, as moose are a fairly "deep" critter. Place your shot behind the shoulder........not on it. You're not likely to break too many moose shoulders with a .270 and still hit vitals.

I killed my Shiras bull with 180 grain Hornady out of my 30/06. With a 270 I would be leaning towards the 150 grain bullet. Probably the Federal premium ammo that has the 150 Nolser Partition. CB
