Archer's choice rangefinder...........

I know this has been debated over whether there is a need for Angle compensation or not..........Personally I hunt higher than most guys. I'll sit at 30 to 35 feet up all day long comfortably.........I know most people don't sit over 12 to 15 feet. My lowest stand that I have where I hunt is about 22 feet to the bottom platform on my climber. 2 reasons for me were the fact that I hunt higher up than most guys and the fact that it is much smaller than my current rangefinder which wouldn't fit in the zipper pocket of my Primos Bowvest.

I should have it in a week and will try and do a review from the tree I hunt. I know it's gonna make a big difference on those short shots and less on the long ones but only time will tell.:D

BTW- I will be testing it against my bushell yardage pro.

The only problem I see with that range finder is the max range is 99.5 yards. I also gun hunt. So I want one that will work there as well. If I strictly bow hunted, then this unit would be just fine! I have my choice narrowed down to the Bushnell Scout 1000 w/ARC, and the Leupold RX-II w/TBR. So far the RX-II is favored.

Heights are nothing. If I could find a tree where I could get 50 feet up during gun season, I would. During bow, 35 is about my max and the majority of the time I stay under 30. That being said, I'm one of the detractors on the angle compensation debate.:D

But anyway, I've got the Primos Hunting Vest and my range finder fits in the bottom pockets just fine. I'll even stick it in with my pull rope from time to time. BTW--I beleive my range finder is a Bushnell Yardage Pro.

If you could, see how far it can really range and let us know. Some say it can go well beyond the advertised range. I also am on the fence on getting this one or just the 550. I gun hunt and would like it to work for both.

Thanks and enjoy it. I had one similar to the one you currently have and you will probably like the size and ease of use of the Archers Choice. I had a Monarch 800 and they fit your hand awesome.

Good luck with your new "toy!" :)

Lou this unit is actually a little bigger than I expected. It is still smaller than my other unit. I've got to lay out a tape and see if it is zero'd. It read about 1 to 2 yards different than my yardage pro. I got 148 yards and even tried hitting dark objects without any problems. Many of the bushnells won't read black targets at the 3d range. Which stinks cause I like to check my yardage after I shoot the target.

Hutchies, I've got the same style of range finder. Luckily I am an instinctive shooter and only use it for reference during the off season. That thing is pretty big to be walking around in the woods with. I've got enough junk to carry already. I wouldn't want to have to carry one of those too. :)
