Guest antlers21
Well I have been hunting with mechanicals for about 8 years now and have never shot a fixed blade broadhead to date. Today I picked up a pack of muzzy 3 blade broadheads and am going to shoot them this weekend and see how they fly. I just figure I have had good luck with my spitfires and other various heads but want to try a muzzy and if they fly good I want to give them a try next hunting season. Just thought I would share with you all. Any muzzy hunter out here that have anything to say??
jerdanmagic
Re: going to give fixed blades a try!!! I've arrowed 5 deer and a hog this year with my 3 blade 100gr. Muzzy broadheads with 1 3/16 cutting circle, and I have had zero problems. I am a Muzzy man, tried and true!!!! I hope you enjoy them as much as I do. BLH
Re: going to give fixed blades a try!!! I am a Muzzy hunter all the way!!!! I shoot 3-blade 125 gr. fixed broadheads and wouldn't trade them for anything. I have arrowed many many deer and have only lost one, due to poor shot placement. I am sure you will be pleased with your transition.

magnatecsteve
Re: going to give fixed blades a try!!! I have only ever shot one deer with another broadhead than Muzzy and Muzzy's have NEVER let me down! I have only had maybe two deer that the broadhead didn't blow clean through the deer, and some that I was amazed at how much penetration I did get when it hit bone. They truly are "BAD TO THE BONE"

Missed160
Re: going to give fixed blades a try!!! I am going the other way. I have always shot fixed blades, Rcky Mtn Advantages, but this year want to give mechanicals a try, so I bought some Rocket Steelhead 100's. I think there are a lot of great heads out there that will all work fine, just kind of fun to try something new.
JimT
Re: going to give fixed blades a try!!! Lots of guys like Muzzy heads for sure. Have fun playing around with them. I personally would stick with the mechs if they are working though.
mitrrophybowhunter
Re: going to give fixed blades a try!!! Yes you should definetly sight your bow with your broadheads. Field points are not legal to take a deer with! As far as the Muzzy's I have heard good things. I had used Thunderheads for years and went to spitfire pros and man oh man what a hole. Went through ribs both sides I love um. I have never heard anyone go from mechanical to fixed

VTbowman
Re: going to give fixed blades a try!!! I went threw the exact same thing about 8 years ago. Muzzy and all. I stayed with mech heads. Just could not get the same groups with the fixed blades as I did with my mech heads. JMO I wasted about 2 weekes of my time trying. Played with all aspects of bow and sight adjustments too. Just was not happy with them over what I had gotten with the mech heads. Not really a waste, more of a learning experience. Good Luck. tedicast
Re: going to give fixed blades a try!!! I started using 100 grain WASP Boss Bullets this past season. they truly group as good as my fieldpoints. I have thought about trying Grim Reapers, but am probably just gonna stick with the Wasps. Guest antlers21
Re: going to give fixed blades a try!!! Well we got dumped on this weekend and never got to shoot due to snow removal I read the replys and some people said that I might have to adjust my pins from my field tips??? I never had to do this with my spitfires, do you guys that shoot fixed blade broadheads have to adjust from your field tips. This would suck since I shoot almost every day even on days I cant get out and hunt. This may change my feelings. I just wanted to try fixed because I have never shot them before so we will see if they shoot way off from my field tips then I may not like them. Switchback29A1
Re: going to give fixed blades a try!!! Ive been shooting Muzzy 100 gr. 3 blades and have never had any problems but we all started shooting Wasp 100 gr. Jackhammers and have really been impressed. We all chose wasp because they don't have a screw in the actual broadhead. At first one of my friends got a pack of thunderheads that had a screw in them and we noticed within 10 shots the screw had come out. magnatecsteve
Re: going to give fixed blades a try!!! I THOUGHT about using mechanicals, but I have never had any prob's with Muzzys, all good! Plus, can't really re-sharpen mechanicals like I can my Muzzy's. Plus, I'm on a roll with my LUCKY head. Made three good quick kills with same head, just replaced two blades and kept it sharp, so I don't want to break my streak.
coles
Re: going to give fixed blades a try!!! shoot em. you cant go wrong. i shoot the same ones and i have had no problem. besides it gives you a reason to say "and thats the muzzy moment" after you shoot something. smo
Re: going to give fixed blades a try!!! I switched last year from a mechanical to a 75 gr. muzzy. I wasn't getting the penetration I wanted with mechanicals. The muzzy's sure did the trick. Got a complete pass through on the only bow kill of the season.
