338 RCM report

Finally got to the range to try out the new Ruger Hawkeye 338 RCM. Basically just to break it in, see how it shoots. Used the 2x2x2 break in method (shoot 2 rounds, run 2 patches with bore cleaner, then 2 dry). I shot 14 rounds. Has a stout little kick to it! Used 6 rounds to get scope centered at 50yds (adjusted wrong way twice), 2 for the 100yd dial-in, then it was time to get serious. 1st- shot dead center (off rest), 2nd&3rd-2"rt/1"hi (off safari sticks), 4th&5th- removed scope/open sights 2"lt/1"lo (off rest), 6th-replaced scope, shot off rest= dead center. Powder really burns clean, hardly any residue at all by last dry patch.

Specifics=rest/Caldwell pistol rest. Safari sticks/Stoney Point Magnum Safari Sticks (72"). Rifle/Ruger M-77 Hawkeye, SS&Syn, 20"bl. Scope/Leupold 4-12x40 (set at 6x). Ammo/Hornady 225 gr SST.

Almost ready for a Newfie moose!
