buckmastermn
How important is it to have a gun in all camo while turkey hunting? I am planning on buying a new gun in the next month or so and I have been debating this. If the black/synthetic gun will work I can buy a Benelli Supernova but if camo is a must then I will have to purchase the Nova. Any advice will be appreciated
snapper
Camo gun is NOT needed to kill a turkey...just nothing that puts off a glare...flat black will work just as well as camo. That said, camo just looks alot cooler though. Personally...I'd go camo, but black will work just fine.
Strut10
Mine's all black. Haven't had a bird see it yet.
Nut
Mine's all black. Haven't had a bird see it yet. Ditto here....my boys have the wood stock and it is not a problem either.
Leo
Black works fine
bluelund79
I'll concur with the all black theme....Both my Mossberg and Remington wear those colors proudly....Save the extra money for a good choke!
buckmastermn
Thanks. That is exactly what I wanted to hear.
3seasons
Just my $.02. Color never has really mattered. Ive killed a truck load with a glossy finished 870 20ga. and the rest with a black 870 12ga. If a bird comes up on your side it may see the shine of the gloss but as long as he's looking down the wrong side of the barrel it cant tell what color it is. slaw
I'm sure it don't matter but the first time I went out with my camo mossberg, I was poised with the gun on my knee waiting for mr. longbeard to come in , and a bird landed on my barrrel, when he felt he had landed on cold steel, he was gone in a flash, scarred the heck out of both of us, he left a little something on the ground by my boot too....but that was just a testiment to the camo gun i believe. Flintlock1776
Some of all that stuff is to bag buyers more than game. Get a good shootin' rig within your budget and practice and be ready for next season.
FireStrut
I have a black 870 super mag and it gets the job done. A friend of mine took his black 870 and painted it, it looks like the old military woodland camo. He did a good job on it but I don't think I want to do mine like that. If its not broken don't fix it.
Born4it
Not important at all. As long as your gun is matte finish and not shiny, I wouldn't worry about it at all! Even if it's shiny you should be ok. The reflection and shine can catch a turkey's eye sometimes though. Good luck! Ryan
