razortec_hunter
hey yall, i'm 15 years old 130 pounds and when i started bow hunting i could barely pull 45 LOL my first deer i killed i had my little alpine micro at 38 pounds lol but it hit the deer nice and didn't run 100 yards. that was when i was 13, now i upgraded to a hoyt razortec and am shooting 60# and it puts an awesome grouping in at 50 yards and has barely any drop with 100gr tips, for you since ur shoulders bad i would tone it down a bit, my brother caleb has a Bow that's 80# and i can pull that back just fine but after shooting it a bunch it starts to hurt my shoulder... and i'm 15! lol (yes that was an age joke ) point being i keep my bow at 60# cuz it's a comfortable weight, and when your hunting and get cold ur gonna find it allota harder to pull ur bow back anyway. Bowtech_archer07
My draw weight is between 65 and 70 lbs. If your shoulder is hurting you, I would lower the weight and keep shooting until you feel comfortable, then increase the weight little by little until you are back to where you are at now. Jeramie
I started at 70lbs, bought a 60lb bow but wasnt happy with the results. I then switched back to 70lbs. It took a while for me to re-adjust to the heavier pull but im glad I did.
Born4it
29" and 60#s. I always keep it there. I'm very comfortable with it. I've heard that you should be able to pull your bow straight back(without pointing it towards the sky) while sitting on a chair with your legs straight in front of you off the ground. You don't want to hurt yourself anymore, so I would decrease it for this season. I know somebody that hurt their shoulder and couldn't hunt for an entire season...he was devastated. Better safe than sorry! Good luck! Ryan

JimPic
I hunt with a few differant bows-2 longbows(49#&50#)and 2 recurves(51#&54#).No problem putting arrows thru deer with any of these.Be good to your shoulder and drop the weight. If you're struggling,it won't get any better continuously putting that kind of strain on it
mrswtnhunt
Mine is around 35#, can't remember the draw length. I was up to about 40# but didn't practice much last year so had to back it off a little.

Draw weight on your bow is currently at about 42 lbs. We had it up to about 45lbs, max is 50 lbs.

m gardner
I shoot both my bows at 54 pounds. I learned a long time ago that I could even kill elk if I used a fairly heavy arrow and a cut on contact broadhead. Last deer I killed only went 75 yards. Shot him with a 7595 Gold Tip and a NAP Shockwave, a machnical broadhead.Mark

Texan_Til_I_Die
I've got that shoulder thing going too. I basically don't have a rotator cuff in my right shoulder, just a bunch of mush. I can shoot 60# for a few shots, but then it starts bothering me, so I've backed off to 50#. Another thing I want to be able to do is hold at full draw for an extended period and still be accurate. I practice holding for 30 seconds up to 1 minute.
