Born4it
I heard from a shop owner that camo arrows fly on average 5 feet per second slower than regular black arrows. For that reason, I've bought black arrows in the past. Has anyone researched this at all and have evidence? Thanks! Ryan
toddyboman
that is rather interesting..... Hard to think that camo wrapping would slow down an arrow but who knows.
wildthing
never heard that...but interesting...if any, I can't see if making THAT much of a difference.
OUTDOORLIFE3
i don't know about slowing down that much, but it def. is slower, just because the wraps weigh some and more weight means slower arrows...look at the box and they will tell the grain per inch, and you can see that the camo arrows do weigh more
LifeNRA
This is like throwing a nickle in the ocean. Will somebody ever notice it? LOL!
Guest bowhunter56
yep, deer really don't care what color the arrows are..and i don't think they hide you any better in a tree...black is good.

Turkeygirl
Never heard of it....but I use black arrows anywa...easier to find than camo one's....lol
Straight Shooter
I've hunted with and still shoot both black and camo shafts, have yet to see a difference in speed from one to the other. Beleive me, I shoot all my arrows through a chrono. This guy must have been wanting to move some of his old black shafts that aren't selling very well. Rayzorp
I read something similar to that before, can't recollect. So I weighed my camo arrow (Easton XX75) vs a black arrow, difference was minimal. The camo is not even a wrap. I know cause I dip them in acetone before I refletch, camo never came off. Born4it
Well maybe next time I'll look at camo ones too! They're usually more expensive by a little bit though. Thanks for the info :-) Ryan

Texan_Til_I_Die
I shoot camo arrows that have the Buff Tuff finish mainly because I hunt from the ground most of the time since there aren't many big trees in West Texas.
Ethan Givan
Never used camo arrows cause they usually cost more and they are harder to find. Doubt there is much difference in speed though.
Guest matt_tibbit
I know cause I dip them in acetone before I refletch, camo never came off. I used to use Acetone as well to strip fletching and glue until I was told by someone that knows archery tackle way better than I do that Acetone is a harsh chemical and will cause the carbon fibers to weaken and break down. He advised me to switch to Denatured Alcohol. It pretty much accomplishes the same means...have you or anyone else heard something like this as well? Now about camo vs. black...you should try this ballistics calculator http://home.att.net/~sajackson/ballistics.html for arrow flight and see the drop in elevation between a black shaft's weight and a camo shaft's weight...I'd be interested to see if there was a significant change when using a slightly heavier camo arrow rather than a black shaft...if I get time I'll do the math and post it here... Guest limbhanga
Alright, here is how I see it. Your target is 20 yards away. Your bow shoots 300 fps (295fps with camo arrows). From time you release your arrow until time it acquires its target is .200 seconds with a black arrow vs. .203 seconds with a camo arrow. Like someone said already... Like a nickle in the ocean. MichiganHunter
U know it seams a little high but i can belive it, i switched arrows and went up like 15 grains in weight and lost like 3 or 4 feet per second. But it's either the weight or the slight increas in diameter or the combo of the two, but i could see it affecting the arrow speed....I just have always bought black because there cheaper and i like the look better...less gimmickey i feel
m gardner
I think that camo arrows weigh .4 grains per inch more than regular ones. Not enough to worry about. They do seem to come out of the 3-d targets harder and are more expensive so I've avoided them. Mark
