Randyman
Anyone else having a HUGE problems with these boogers? I have a beautiful Purple Leaf Sand Cherry in my front yard that they are making a shambles of. I tried the pheromone traps, and while i caught a few, it only seems to have drawn even more into my yard! I am ready to try some powder, but i hate to kill any beneficial bugs. Anyone got any ideas short of a "scorched earth" policy?
Adjam5
Hey Randy....I am having problems with them too. The only problem with the traps is you actually invite more beetles than would normally be there due to the pheromones. Doomed if you do and doomed if you don't. They are skeletonizing the leaves of my berry bushes, apple trees and dogwoods:mad:. I am dealing with them and choose not to spray...YET! Swamphunter
Try a soapy water solution sprayed on the leaves of your plants. My wife does it with her roses, and although we still find some, it is MUCH improved.
Tominator
I have no patience for that bug. Sevin is my defense as long as it's not flowering. If the affected plant is flowering I don't spray because of the bees. I have removed most of the plants that they like so I just have to watch my apple and birch trees. Randyman
Thanks for the idea Swamp! I will give it a try. I will use the sevin if necessary, but only as a last resort.

007hunter
Bayer makes a product that has worked well for me in the past. Its called Tree & Shrub Insect Control Concentrate and its quite simple to use. All you do is mix it with water and pour it around the trip line. The plant then takes it up and your "bug" free for 12 months. On the downside, not sure of your area, the beetles will only be out for a few weeks more at most. But you can always be ready for next year.
