im considering purchasing a thompson center icon but i was wondering if anyone has used it enough to know whether they are good and accurate at ranges between 500-1000yard. T/C says they are accurate but we know all companies always make things seem better than they really are.

Welcome to the forums.

Really have not heard much on the icon other than that it is not as pretty a gun as what the advertisements show. Far as the accuracy, have no clue. I would suspect if you are looking for a rifle to deer hunt with and plan on taking shots out to 500 yards and beyond that you will need to look at ballistics tables and find a really flat shooting caliber that will still carry enough energy, think I would probably build on a model 700 if it were me. For making those types of shots, you can also probably plan on a lot of range time.
