hutchies
Most ranges are 20 targets. Although you could have 10 targets and shoot from 2 different sets of stakes. Be prepared.......Targets aren't cheap. My buddy is opening a Range and he just dropped about $6,000 on 25 targets.
Rayzorp
Hutchies is right, good targets that won't dissolve in the rain are'nt cheap. 10 to 15 all between 20 -27 is common. Hay bails here and there for backstop is not a bad idea. A small practice area at the beginning is a good idea. My 2 cents, Good Luck!!! Born4it
I like the ones best that make it challenging and different. I don't like walking along and shooting every shot on level ground at a broadside deer from 20 yards. Uphill, downhill, quartering away, far shots, in between pins shots, kneeling, leaning around trees...anything to mix things up! I usually see 30 target courses around here, and most people are going with Rinehart targets. Good luck! Post some pictures when you get it set up! ultratec1
You'll soon find out that on somethings your damned if you and damned it you don't. Alot of guys like the challenge of kneeling, sitting, leaning shots. Shots through trees or brush where you will more than likely hit a limb and zing an arrow through the timber. Alot of guys enjoy these shoots and more than likely will never complain about them. These are the kind of shoots that I would rather drive 50 miles the other way then to shoot them. I like challenging shots that are either deceiving in yardage or when the yardage is taken away from the shooter, i.e. no open ground to the target from the stake. I also like good quality tagerts and not alot of little targets through-out the course. But once again it goes back to the, your damned if you do and damend if you don't. Set up what you like and have fun doing it.
