Welcome to Realtree Christopher.

I agree with Randy. Figure out your budget...then shoot every bow that is within that and buy the one that feels best.

Don't worry about what brand it is....get the one that you are most comfortable shooting.

Good luck :)

great advice guys. thanks but also when do u think i should step up to a bigger bow

I would think that 40 lbs is a pretty good weight for you right now. You are still young and have alot more growing to do so make sure that you next bow is easily adjustable as far as the draw length goes, I think most bows are. And you should be good. And welcome to the forums.

welcome to the forums!!

well as for ur bow i'm also 15 and i'm shooting an 03 hoyt razortec at 60# i LOVE this bow i haven't heard anyone say anything bad about it, it's insainly accurate, the net weight of the bow is REALLy light, it's 33" axle to axle (really nice for still hunting) i picked mine up for 300$ used but it shot like brand new, i've also put about 200-300$ into the bow so alltogether it's around 600$

AMAZING bow for the money

good luck huntin!!

Welcome to the forums!!! Utilize this page as much as possible!

Agree with everyone else about shooting as many as possible when you get a new one. I would say that if it's really easy to draw and you're at 28 inches you could definitely handle a new one. I've been pulling 60 lbs very comfortably since I was about 18, and I'm not a very big guy. The most important thing is for you to feel confident. Be sure not to get a bow that's too difficult to draw.

As far as which ones to look for, if money is an issue, really look for some of the used ones on here and maybe on ebay. Figure out which one you want and maybe one more you would be happy with, and get a good price for it wherever you get it. A few good companies are Hoyt, Mathews, Bowtech, PSE, Diamond, Alpine, Reflex, Browning, Parker, and Fred Bear. But don't take my word for it!!! Get out there and try them out!

Good luck!

Ryan

Ready when your you are...

If you're at 28" and 40 pounds is pretty easy for you...I'd say you're ready for some more weight whenever your pocket book is ready. Be sure though to figure out your current draw length and buy a bow that fits you now but that will adjust a few more inches beyond that through replacable modules. Most new bows will come with all the modules to adjust your bow to each specific draw length that it lists it's capable of. Do this so that you can use this new bow for years to come as you continue to grow. Also, I would go ahead and get a bow that's draw weight is adjustable up to 70 pounds...but don't feel like you have to jump right in and start pulling that. Doing this may cause you to start some bad habits that will effect your form, consistency and grouping.

Well welcome,

But you know go and shoot everything you can. And if you want to save some money i was looking at a cabelas bow hunting mag the other day and there are lots of company's out there making great packaged bows, u know with sight rest quiver all u need is arrows but i would look for a bow that is toppin off at 60lbs or even 70lbs but the combo's are a great way to go if you want to save some cash.

P.S. I have a Diamond Black Ice....i really like diamond's stuff
