buckee
I've always been a hunter, but never much of a gun nut. I've always hunted with my 30/30 with open sights. Now here is my stupid question for the day. Is there a scope designed for a 30/30, since the shells eject out of the top???? I've only hunted with a scoped gun, once in my life, and that was a borrowed gun. I've always been an up close and personal deer hunter, but with my eyes getting older, it sure would be nice to have a scope on the ol' 30/30 for ranges out past 50 yrds. Shaun_300
Re: Scope for 30/30 Winchester ???? buckee - you can get an offset scope, thats where the scope leans to the left side of the gun a bit. my uncle uses this set up on his 30/30 and my other uncle uses it on his Big Bore 94 .375 Winchester. JimT
Re: Scope for 30/30 Winchester ???? You must have a Winchester 94? You will need a side mount for sure. I, however, would not scope this rifle this way. Would rather scope a Marlin side eject. Most of the Winchester scoped 94s did not shoot all that well. If you do and need a scope, I would get a Weaver fixed four power thru Natchez for it. I also believe you can have a smith put on a long eye relief scope that mounts in a traditional manner, in front of the ejection port. too_pointer
Re: Scope for 30/30 Winchester ???? Steve, I agree with Jim, get the scope out in front of the ejecting shells. That would be your best bet !! I see many levers that are set up that way. too_
Washi
Re: Scope for 30/30 Winchester ???? My brother has the see through scope mounts (I think Weaver) on his Winchester and that works great. That way you can use the scope or iron sights and there is still enough clearance to eject. OJR
Re: Scope for 30/30 Winchester ???? Buckee, it must be terrible to be getting so old!!! LOL!! I agree with an offset mount! The other alternative is get a new Tikka and you would solve the problem right now!
