wtnhunt Posted July 23, 2008 Report Share Posted July 23, 2008 Had decided on the A-bolt in the 300 win mag and got everything setup with the ffl transfer and placed my order with reeds sporting goods. Got the confirmation of the order back in May. Problem was that they did not have the rifle in stock and placed the rifle on backorder, when I first checked they said they could get it, but would be a month or so wait. Everything should have been good except that they ended up not being able to get the 300 and after about a month wait and several emails, I called back and the gun dept told me that they would not be able to get the 300, so I continued checking around. Ended up doing a lot more comparing of ballistics tables on available factory loads on other calibers available in this rifle and continued checking with other online browning dealers with no luck at all. I started considering the 7 mm mag and did a bit more research on ammo availability and comparing ballistics. When this one came in at reeds, I ended up going with it. Guess I can always look at getting a 300 next year, maybe remington will offer it in the cdl sf. Have a new nikon monarch scope in black matte put up in the cabinet, but thinking I may look at topping this one with a silver leupold scope instead. Really thinking I am going to go with a silver scope and silver rings and bases. Got to say thanks too to Don(Strut10) for taking the time to help me out here. Don answered several questions for me through pm's and found a 300 on gunbroker, but unfortunately that gun had a ding in the wood and I could not work out a deal with the seller.
