Guest J_Owens_66
Hey folks, I have been looking at a Ruger Number 1 in 270 Weatherby Mag for quite a while now. Anyone have a 270 Weatherby Mag? I want a gun mainly for a long range deer gun, but want something for elk and moose too just incase i go up north, would this be a good choice? Also, wanting somethin without all the heavy duty recoil. Another ??, the shells are soo high for this gun, how hard is it to reload the 270 Weatherby? AJ, can you give me some good info on this cartridge? and possibly some links about it. Thanks in advance
AJ
Re: .270 Weatherby Mag Think of the .270 Weatherby Mag as a hot 270 WSM. It beats the .270 WSM by 100-200 fps or so in all bullet weights. Anything the .270 WSM will do the .270 Weatherby Mag will do. The difference from the .270 Win to the .270 WSM is like going from a .270 WSM to a .270 Wby. Reloading the .270 Wby is not extremely difficult. Its just another cartridge. Follow the manual and look for pressure signs. These do perform best with longer barrels. Since it is on a No. 1 a 26" barrel will give you the added velocity and it will still be shorter than a bolt gun due to the action being so short. This cartridge likes the slower powders and is at home with 7828 and RL 22. Consult the manuals for the proper recipes.
