hammerforged
Okay, I know some will think it is a little early, but I firmly believe that there is no such thing as too early. I have a new Grandson, he is just 6 months old and am thinking about his first gun, I already have his first crossbow and I will make his first knife. I am really leaning toward the Chipmunk, any others I should consider?
Dakota
Congrats! I'd recommend a NEF single-shot youth 20 or .410 for his first shotgun; the 20 gauge was my first gun. Dakota
Shaun_300
Well I'd start him out with a Daisy Red Rider BB gun for his very first gun, then move him up to a .410, 28 or 20 gauge when he starts hunting. (20 gauge if he's going to use slugs for deer)
dougp
I havbe a daisy Buck for my 4 year old. He will graduate to a .410 then to a .22 after that. just my 2 pennies.
MorganRaider
bb rifle should be 1st.
youngbuck30230
bb gun so he can learn basic safety and shooting skills and then a .
hammerforged
I forgot to add to the original post that I already have him a Daisy Red Ryder NRA Edition. You all are right in that should be his first gun, but I am looking for what should be his first 22. I am still leaning toward the Chipmunk. Dakota
Okay, just found out what the chipmunk is while behind the gun counter at work. Definitely a good little .22! Dakota

dougp
Set up a savings account for the education Thats a heck of a good idea. I like that little chipmunk though!
Carolinahunter
No doubt about it,start him out with a bb gun.Itll give him a chance to get used to handling a gun and you a chance to teach him gun safety.
Dakota
Set up a savings account for the education What kind of a grandparent are you? :D:D Jk, definitely a good idea, but think a little smaller for right now. Dakota
MichiganHunter
You know I really dont think you can go wrong with a remington 870 20ga you can get him a combo so he's got a bird barrel for smacking some turkeys or upland and a slug barrle for droppin some deer, my friend has a 870 and with the correct slugs and scope combo he can easily take deer out to 150 yards even longer if he practiced more. But like the other guys said cant go wrong with a BB gun too, heck i'm 22 and i still shoot mine.
