huntinguide
GM announces new 4.5L V8 Duramax diesel for half-ton trucks Ford will offer a diesel engine for its light-duty F-150 pickup, likely around 2008, according to a former Ford executive in Automotive News earlier this week. The engine will come from Land Rover's diesel-powered Range Rover in Europe. It's a 3.6-liter turbodiesel V-8 that makes 267 hp and 472 pounds-feet of torque in the Range Rover – and it helps the Rover get around 31 mpg on the highway. stevebeilgard
i love the diesels, but i sure do hate paying so much at the pump for the diesel sludge.... yet, a 31 mpg pickup will most certainly get my attention....
Shaun_300
Yep, the GM trucks are coming with the new 4.5L Duramax soon! They produce 310 horsepower and 520 ft-lbs. of torque and will get 30mpg. I'm sure they'll be pretty big sellers, I'm interested to see what the diesel option is worth. I know the 6.6L's are a $10,000 option!

unioncountyslayer
Hopefully it will have different electronics than the Rover. They are crap. What's Ford thinking!
Nick
I just picked up a Diesel World magazine the other day....ford 1/2 ton diesels will hit the lot in 2010 and chevys will hit the lot in 2009. As long as I can afford it, I'll stick with my 3/4 ton Duramax Diesel.
snapper
Hmmmmmmmm...may have to look into this next year. Decided to keep my 3/4 ton crew a tad longer and got the wife a new Subaru. Guess it will depend on how much more $ the diesel motor will cost.
wtnhunt
What Shaun posted for chevy sounds great. Wonder if they will have an option for this higher efficiency diesel in a 3/4 ton?
