*Camo_Girl*
Hey everyone. I could use some help. I want to possibly try goose or duck hunting, but I don't know what I all need to start with. What supplies would I all need? Also, do you need to have a dog for duck hunting? Any other tips or anything else is greatly appreciated. Thanks! -CG:cool:
birdhunter39
supplies - decoys , calls , camo, shotgun and shotgun shells we have 2 blk labs , but where i mainly hunt waterfowl , it's all corn field what i would do first is find a waterfowl guide or a friend who waterfowl hunts . to see if you like it , and to see if you like the meat , the video's i watch are fallin skies 1 -5 , they are awesome , during the summer month's i bring my calls when ever i fish , camp , and trying my calls out that way , or you can buy video's or both , so you can try what you learned on the videos on the real thing ( ducks and geese ) . best of luck

DU_man_84
thats right the very first step is get out with someone who knows what there doing, like birdhunter said, a friend who does it or a guide, thats your starting point, then if you like the sport, and trust me you will, watch out though it gets very addictive, try and get out with friends whenever ya can for the first year, learn some of their ways, get some waterfowl videos, instructional videos, i would say your first year spend time learning the sport, learn what ever you can, than after that then you can go out and starting buying calls, decoys, all the goodies, but watch out it gets very expensive, duck hunting is a sport you can learn something new everytime you go out, your gonna learn how the birds want to act differently almost each and everyday, just learn the sport and have the chance to experience it before you go out and blow all your money on a sport you might not like, or not knowing what your doing, which might cause you to give up on the sport, learn as much as you can, any questions just ask

Dakota
supplies - shotgun (12 or 20), shells (I prefer 3" #4's for both), good quality camo waders and coat (I use Realtree Advantage AP), boots (if you don't have waders and at least get some good cammo overalls), decoys (optional, depending on your style of hunting) and a couple of good duck and goose calls (I prefer the Primos Wench for ducks and the Primos Canada Goose Flute for canadians. The latter works great for geese and I also won the local Ace Hardware 17 and Under Goose Calling Contest using that call). Good Luck!
