JimT
Bad primers or a bad firing pin maybe?
Shaun_300
Re: Scary Moments Ditto Jim, that is scary when that happens eh Josh, dad's .22 Magnum does that sometimes, thats with some of the cheap ammo though. No problem with the winchester ammo!!
OJR
Re: Scary Moments It could be bad primers or they are seated too deep. Did you ream out the primer pocket? Did you handle the primers with you fingers? Several things might enter into the picture!
AJ
Re: Scary Moments It could be a few things. The primer may not have been seated deep enough in the pocket. The primers could have been contaminated by something. What type of gun were you shooting?
robk
Re: Scary Moments if all went well and it dented the primer this may sound crazy but if you reloaded them maybe you forgot something like powder or liek was stated a contaminated or bad primer. which primers and what gun like aj said would be interested in hearing which gun it was you were shooting rob k
spyderpancake
Re: Scary Moments well obviously it was a primer or firing pin problem and not a lack of powder b/c the primer would have still gone off, not clicked. and i doubt that the primer wasn't seated far enough b/c the second try probably would have fired it. It was most likely either seated too far in and the pellet was crushed or the primer was deactivated by handling it or getting something on it. AJ
Re: Scary Moments [ QUOTE ] ...and i doubt that the primer wasn't seated far enough b/c the second try probably would have fired it. [/ QUOTE ] I always thought that way until I personally had one occurrance of the primer seated out too far and when the f-pin hit the primer, it drove it in but it cracked the priming mixture up pretty well. The second attempt resulted in a click as there was not enough priming material sitting against the anvil. I tried it a few times then I carefully punched it out and wacked it with a hammer. It went bang then. So, yes it can happen.
spyderpancake
Re: Scary Moments It can happen, and might have, but i have seen it shoot the second time quite a few times. I guess it depends on the strength of the firing pin.
Guest wthomaslee
Re: Scary Moments never had any problems... would think it would be media stuck in the flash hole. Almost had some get by me on several occasions.
