craig mack
I Tigers traded pudge to the Yanks. Not sure who for, I heard maybe Farnsworth. If they got Farnsworth than I'm truly puzzled by this trade.
Born4it
Hmm...they obviously needed to do something about losing Posada, so it's good for them. He wasn't actually playing as much for the Tigers as they would have liked, because he wasn't doing that well. I'll be curious to see what else, if anything was involved with the deal. I guess if both sides are happy, good for them..heh. Ryan

Born4it
Think so...they just want to rent him for a few months. They'll have Posada back next year.
Michiganbowhunter_SQ2
I think the tigers were tired of Todd Jones and his scare tactics everytime he came in and were looking for someone to close out games. Pudge is hitting .295 for the year but his days are numbered. I don't think he was to fond of splitting catching duties with Inge anyways. Sardinha will be called back up and will split catching time with Inge and IMO will eventually be worked into being the full time catcher. I think it works out ok for both sides, the yankees get someone to replace posada for the rest of the year, and the Tigers get a closer that they need. I think Jones is planning on retiring after this season anyways, Zumaya is no closer IMO, he is a bit shakey. Rodney is doing ok right now, but i don't trust him one bit, if he had some control over his fastball he'd be one heck of a pitcher.
Born4it
There's the insight we needed from the Michigan guy :-) Good info! Thanks, Ryan
craig mack
I dont have a problem with them trading Pudge but for Farnsworth!!! If he's the answer to our bullpen issues than we are still in trouble. They say that Pudge was kind of a pain in arsh in the locker room so maybe the move will help in the chemistry department. Unfortunatly pitching isnt our only problem, I think we leave as many guys on in scoring position than anyone in th A.L. Oh well we'll see how it plays out but I dont think Kyle Farnsworth is much better than the scrub closers that we have now.
Michiganbowhunter_SQ2
If he's the answer to our bullpen issues than we are still in trouble. I don't think he is the answer, but i'll take him over Rodney and Jones right now. HE is actually throwing pretty good this year (era around 3.60 i think, WHIP just about 1.3), his performance the rest of the year will determine whether or not the keep him or not. Jones gets the job done most of the time, but I think the whole organization is tired of him making it "interesting" everytime he takes the mound. And rodney I think is more focused on how crooked he can wear his hat rather than learning to control his pitches. I'm guessing he'll be more of a reliever role along with sharing closing duties with Rodney and Jones.(I'd like em to get rid of having an "everyday" closer though) And with Zumaya hurt AGAIN, this fills a void. They say that Pudge was kind of a pain in arsh in the locker room so maybe the move will help in the chemistry department. I have been hearing this as well. You'd have to think this is more of him showing frustration because of the role they put him in. I'm pretty sure they weren't going to re-sign him and he knew that, and along with them wanting Inge as their everyday catcher, and Leyland making the choice to split time between the two, he just got fed up. Tought to see him go for sure, he may not be the player he used to be, but he was the first guy they signed to turn this organization around. Hope he does well with the Yankees (the rest of the yankees, not so much though :D)

craig mack
i'd just try to get posada back for nxt year Posada is signed for a few years, Pudge is a free agent at the end of the season.
VABuckSlayer
They will only use Pudge for the rest of this year. He'll be gone after the season is over. Hip Hip... Jorge will be back next season! Farnsworth has been so inconsistant for the last few years. I'm kind of glad he's gone actually!
muggs
Another former roid hound added to the Spankee fold...it won't be enough. The Angels own the AL East and will win the WS (unless I just put the muggsy kiss of death on them:D). Good deal for the Tigers. Farnsworth sucks...but they cleared some of Pudges salary and he was gone anyway. Inge is a nice player and he's way more valuable as a catcher than he is a thrid baseman. The Yankees are the most poorly run franchise in all of sports, this move only helps to confirm this- ten fold.

Yep, the best team money can't buy. I love watching them fall on their face with that payroll.
craig mack
Glad to see this trade is really making a difference. I hear that they are having a team meeting today, how many cancer sticks do you think Leyland will kill today? I'm guessing about 2 packs worth.
