muggs
What if Favre were to sign with the Vikings and/or the Chicago Bears? In your eyes, how much does your view of Favre change? I'm trying to imagine Bernie Kosar signing with the Ravens or Steelers and I just can't picture it. I think that would be all I need to write the guy off though. JJL
I believe that is the first time in WORLD HISTORY that Bernie Kosar has been compared to Brett Farve. Congratulations Muggs....................you've made history.
Chrud
He wouldn't go to Chicago. Not sure how my opinion would change if he went to Minnesota. Darren Sharper and Ryan Longwell both seem to get the cold shoulder when they come back to Lambeau, after heading to Minnesota as free agents. Favre is going into the Hall, won a Super Bowl, won three MVP's and set every major passing record as a member of the Packers. If he went to Minnesota for a year, I think things might be a bit sour at first, but as soon as he FINALLY retires, I don't think things would be much different than what they would have been had a retired, and stayed retired, as a Green Bay Packer. The opinion of Reggie White never changed when he came out of retirement and went to Carolina. Then again, they aren't a rival. Doesn't matter though. He's taking the money to stay retired. Either that, or Milwaukee is going to sign him for bullpen help.

Jorden
It really wouldnt change my view of him, he wants to play football and GB has made it clear that it wont be for the Packers so if that means that it will be for some other team then if that is what he wants then go for it...I just wish he had made this decision in march. My view of Ted Thompson on the other hand...

RangerClay
I dont care where he goes,if someone gave me 25 Million to stay retired, Id be going hunting..seriously..these guys are way overpaid I was surprised to hear that this $20 million dollar retirement deal has been in the works since the day he retired. McCarthy even admitted that he heard about this deal for the first time at Brett's retirement press conference. Personally, no matter where he goes, retired or not, this whole show that he has put on has tarnished his image in my eyes.
muggs
My view of Ted Thompson on the other hand... This is what I don't get. I've even heard the majority of the national sports media starting to take this approach too. What do you expect the Packer front office to do...he retired, they honored him, not to mention this was the third or fourth time he's "retired." They have a guy (who's shown flashes of ability) who they invested a 1st round pick on waiting in the wings. Thanks to Favre, they've been held in limbo for 4 years now and eventually they have to see what they have in Rodgers so they can decide what their future moves will be. It's a tough spot. They're trying to preserve Favre's legend even though he seems like he wants to do his best to ruin it. They can't cut him outright knowing full well he'd sign with their biggest rival and fans undoubtedly would blame Thompson. They're trying to work out a trade so he can still play- but the teams showing interest are teams Favre is refusing to play for. Are they supposed to welcome him back with open arms and have this "competition for the starting job." Are you kidding? Sure...I can see Favre backing up Rodgers. That is until Rodgers throws his first INT and the Packers crowd starts chanting. Not to mention, what kind of impact is this emotional roller coaster having on Rodgers? The poor guy has been waiting for his chance for years now, and Favre is pulling this? The guy will be worthless when Favre finally stays away. Are they supposed to trade him to the Vikings? Come on guys...Favre is putting Thompson in a lose-lose situation here...and all AFTER he announced his third retirement and shed those tears. What a joke. stevebeilgard
I dont care where he goes,if someone gave me 25 Million to stay retired, Id be going hunting..seriously..these guys are way overpaid i actually thought this entire thing was contrived by farve for some extra money. and, i thought the 25mm payoff was the end of his game plan. apparently, he really wants to play again. the man is ruining his legacy....
